Nice pickup for the Braves with Cole Hamels and keeps them in position to sign another good arm.

So now that Wheeler got 24 million per year I wonder how high Cole and Strasburg will go?

Welcome to Jake Arrieta 2.0

Yeah, that's a lot of scratch for a guy who's not on the same level IMO as the front line starters available.

Somewhat surprised he stayed in the division. I'm reading the White Sox offered him more and he passed.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Angels have acquired Dylan Bundy from the Orioles.
Rosenthal reports that the Orioles will acquire Isaac Mattson in the deal, and Roch Kubatko notes that Baltimore will acquire three additional prospects. Bundy, 27, posted a 4.79 ERA with a 162/58 K/BB ratio over his 161 2/3 innings for Baltimore in 30 starts last season. He's eligible for arbitration for the second time in 2020. He should pitch in the middle of the Angels' rotation this summer.

Woo boy. A guy who gives up tons of dingers in a very dinger-friendly park.

What could go wrong?

Villar to the Marlins for a minor league pitcher. He was arguably the best player on the Orioles, for whatever that is worth. Pretty good pickup for Miami.

At least he's a little younger and hasn't been injured lately. I do think the Braves getting Hamels for 1 year $18 mil. was a better deal though.

Hey @Used 2 B Hu

Looks like Wheeler was tired of playing for a shit organization.

So he signed with us.

:nutswing::nutswing::nutswing:
The good news is he has averaged over 6 innings a start for the last 2 years which they desperately need. Still would have rather had Hamels. And I'm a little scared of his splits. You know that ball flies out to right field. Hopefully this won't be like last year where they forget to get a LH starter til the season is almost over, then bring in Smyly and Vargas. I can't handle another series where the Dodgers come in roll out their lefty lineup and score 50 runs off of Eflin and company.

5 years for a pitcher with injury and then control issues is a little risky. He was one of mytargets for the Brewers but I just don't like the 5 year component.

Heard the Blue Jays were in on Wheeler. Guy's a good pitcher but given the money he got I'm glad Toronto didn't get him.
