Valparaiso and Oakland are two teams that are also always solid, but you think they can pull off a tournament upset and they always fall short.

Valparaiso of course had that amazing run in 1998, but other than that year they haven't won a single tournament game

It's funny, Valpo and Oakland are polar opposites of each other. I think Valpo is the better team, but Oakland may have a better chance of pulling an upset in the tournament because of Kay Felder. Valpo doesn't have anybody, individually that good, although Alec Peters is phenomenal, just different type of players.

I'd say both players could take over a game.

Both teams have knocked on the door this year, Vanderbilt had Oregon on the ropes and Oakland had Michigan State on the ropes, problem is we've seen this from these two teams before, they just never get over the hump.

I saw on a scoreboard that Valparaiso was down 2 with like 10 seconds left, must have hit a last moment shot to get there

Down 2 with 2.1. Did a full court Hail Mary and it was tipped right to their stud big guy for a layup

Valpo guard just "flopped" pretending like he got hit in the face, CLEARLY wasn't touched and I hope they give him a technical.

Bad year to be a number one seed in these conference tournaments, not one of them has won so far

Valpo and Monmouth are going to make interesting cases for at large bids. I like both their resumes a bit. Valpo has the better pure numbers but Monmouth has the bigger wins

Had Valparaiso pulled off that win against Oregon they would have an argument, but I think they will fall short

That would've helped but they did beat Oregon St ( a team they may be in direct competition with for one of the last at large bids ). Plus they have wins over a few other conference champs in IPFW and Belmont and a 25 point win over the Iona team that took out Monmouth. I'm not sure either get in but the 2 resumes are similar

Valpo could get into the tournament if a couple of cards land right. I don't think they are the team they were in February, though. They will probably get an NIT bid and that's probably good enough.

I just know it's starting to suck that my teams are either losing at the buzzer or in overtime. Cheesh, glad I don't have to root for the Globetrotters.
