OK points for originality with Robinson and Durant, but...

When reading the history of Bill Russell and his hostile nature toward the fans in Boston, I can see why many people tend to discount what Russell accomplished in Basketball. On the one hand, he clearly was the victim or racism, but on the other hand, I think he over-reacted quite a bit and alienated himself from those that would have promoted the case for him being the goat. Even in the early stages of the NBA, however, he was the first black to be drafted by the NBA, won 11 championships, 5 MVP awards, 12 time all star appearances, 3 NBA First team and 8 times 2nd NBA team and numerous other awards and yet most people don't even consider him in the top ten.

Bill Russell was a pioneer and perhaps the most important player the league has ever seen. He doesn't get the love on here because of his size and the era he played in. The game has come a long way since then and there are wing players today bigger than he was.

Yep. I noticed the other day that the first ever NBA scoring title went to a white, 190 lb, 6'4" power forward (Joe Fulks). That says it all.

Some one had to be the first black that stood up to the system and call them out for their arrogance and be the first to set new records. Clearly he deserves some love because he set the bar so others could reach it and then raise the bar

They rank #4 and #8 on all-time player efficiency rating. That has a lot to do with it.

Championships and individual awards factor in too.

Amongst the 20 or so regular members of the SportsHoopla NBA boards, yes.

Generally? Probably not.

So literally all but 1 person that has made a list here has LeBron in the top 4, and you still think you aren't the minority?

I really can't understand the argument against. It is nonsensical. The man has been the best player in The league for nearly a decade. How many other players in the history of the league can say that? Maybe 2 or 3, and only one since 1980 when the league really started getting good.

I like the aggressive KD ranking. Too high for my taste now, but I think he may end up a bit higher than that when his career is over. 2 more Finals MVP awards would get him there for me.

In the latest ESPN poll, out of 80,000 votes, 60% pick Kobe over Lebron. Is Kobe a top 3 player?
