Honors Official Statement about the UCF vs Duke game​

Heartbroken, but so proud of this team.

That was an amazing game from start to finish. Regarding the controversy during the end of the game, our players were asked about each one at the post game presser. They said all the right things. First class kids. We know we had a chance to win it at the end. BJ makes that shot 9/10 times. We call him Big Shot Barry for a reason. Aubrey played "magnificent", as Coach K said. Coach K's interview after the game took some of the pain away. World Class Coach. Tacko blocked Zion a few times.

Many are walking away with that UCFeeling of what could've been.... How far would have UCF gone if we won? What I can't get out of my mind is the UCFact that our 3 best players, BJ, Tacko, & Aubrey were all out injured last season. What could've happened if they had 2 years instead of just this 1..... Injuries and controversy around fouls are part of the game.

This team did UCF so proud on such a big stage. UCF's Rise to Dominance is ahead of schedule. Our basketball team is over a decade behind our UCFootball team in terms accomplishments and success. They are catching up UCFast. Being apart of 1 of the 9 High Major conferences helps our basketball team tremendously. Also, basketball having a legit playoff helps facilitate rapid ascension to the Top, too.

The Greatest thing that UCF could accomplish, which is way bigger than any National Championship, is being the Champions of Change - to change the landscape of college athletics to be more fair and have legit NCs. I think UCF is doing just that. We were a top 25 team at one point and earned a 9 seed. That basically means we were 33-36 highest seeded team. There are 350 D1 b-ball teams. So we were in the Top 10% of the field and showed we were able to beat anyone. College football needs at least a Playoff where the Top 10% of teams are included. That means at least 13 teams. This big game absolutely advanced this cause.


What UCF has done over the last few years, is absolutely incredible and magical. My heart aches. But my chin is up - UCFull of Pride.

Had they won, they could have done a Butler-like run to the championship game.

Ohio State made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament and they had the 259th ranked offense lol. Getting to the 2nd round is nothing to be proud of but I guess it is for a school like UCF.

The previous 11 years: UCF had 0 Tourney wins
In the previous 3 years: UCF has 1 Tourney win.

Man was that painful to watch (both games). Seemed like pulling teeth to get an open shot.....props to Houston D as they are no joke.

Though they shot well from 3 last night we need shooters and a true PG. I think we'll get both in the next class.

To stay on topic, I felt terrible for UCF kids and coach to come so close and lose.

I get it. After that game, you and many others know UCF basketball is on the same level as Duke. And you want to hold us to the same standard.

This Real UCFan know we still have to go through our Rise to Dominance to achieve the things that everyone expects UCF to achieve. We aren't there yet. But we are getting there. The Rise is Real.
