I have a long tested internet bulletin board theory that whomever starts a thread with the Subject Line of Hi - usually is.

Not a Kobe fan even but his death has been impacting me. When someone who seemed bigger than life itself dies in a way as senseless as this, it makes everyone stare in the face of their own mortality and reevaluate their own priorities. Nothing is permanent and there are no guarantees. That scares people.

Very nicely said - did you post this in the thread you thought you did?

Same thoughts... Never was a Kobe or Lakers fan and it bothers many when a well known athlete, celeb dies and how much people talk about it, and how much it is brought up in the news. As we all understand this stuff happens daily to people we don't know... But thinking of a star like Kobe dying so young really opens your eyes to what can happen in life, how precious life is and.... even though we may not know Kobe Bryant personally... It feels like part of our own life died. It just seems hard to accept that Kobe Bryant, the legend dead at the age of 41 is no longer walking this earth. It doesn't seem possible. He impacted so many people who love the game... Not just in the US but globally.

It reminds me a bit when Derrick Thomas passed away but even bigger. It's hard to explain how this one feels, but overall it is just hard to accept even for someone I have never met or never really was a big fan of. He felt like part of our lives, watching him for so long...

Also, my wife's been telling me for many months (maybe a year) about a strange noise she keeps hearing outside our second story bathroom or possibly in the attic.

I have peeked up there a couple times (not a good old walk up into attic), but saw nothing.

Last week I hear this racket coming from outside on the side of the house. I step around back and see this big bird flying away after I must have spooked it.

Yesterday I hear it again (rustling, pecking and general racket). I sneak around again and there is this giant ass woodpecker clinging to one of those metal vents on the side of my house. He looks at me and then goes back to jamming his beak into the vent.

After I shoo it away, I get my extension ladder out and climb up to see Wtf is going on. There's mesh over the vent, but behind that is 3 huge wasp nests (empty of course this time of year).

I pryed the mesh up and pulled the nests out. Bet that bird was eating live wasps last summer/fall when my wife was telling me about the noise. Hopefully he doesn't come back.

No snow. I work overnights at DIA. It'll probably wait until then for me, haha.
