Are you gonna be on I-29 north toward Dakota Dunes (Iowa/S. Dakota border) anytime soon?

If so...At what 'mile marker' is the Speed Camera sitting?

The speed camera they are using is a portable unit..... Both units are on the iowa side-

Right now southbound is at approx 146- inbetween Hwy 20 and downtown Sioux City
Northbound is at approx 150- Inbetween downtown sioux city and south dakota line

The speed limit on I-29 in iowa from sergeant bluff to south dakota line is 55.... the whole ten mile stretch is under construction (widening).

Once in south Dakota it picks up to 65. Till you get out of city limits then it goes up to 75

The speed cameras are easy to spot ahead... but they also do have a cushion.

This be the cameras look like...

here's what our's look like. They'll park it on the side of the road and leave it.

Radar out the back on top. Cameras stick out that side window and catch ya coming and going. They capture your speed, get a pic of the person driving, pic of the plate and send you a nice photo package in the mail with an envelop to send in the money. Just like Olan Mills.

Thanks.

Got a ticket in the mail on Thursday the 19th. Was traveling through Sewer City on my way to the Black Hills w/ the kids on Monday the 9th. Says I was doing 67 in a 55 @ mile marker #151 and has the pictures of the front/back of my pickup w/ license plate.

#151 is the LAST mile marker prior to leaving the state of Iowa. I think it's a fucking cheesy revenue generator for Iowa (and the private company who owns/operates/and collects 50% of the $$$) to put a speed camera there to catch people leaving the state knowing the speed limit is going up to 65 mph in a matter of feet. There was no construction going on at the time.

I can see the surrounding scenery, so I plan to go up there and ensure that photo was indeed taken at mile marker #151.

If not I will take the time to fight it.

Ours are simply for the road construction project....... or so they say...

They spent a lot of money on traffic camera infrastructure during this project- My guess is that they made it so it could easily be updated so each of those cameras also catch speeders.. The two portable cameras that the locals pretty much know where they are- slow down 1/2 mile before- speed up a 1/2 mile after.....

If the legislature decides they are legal in iowa- I bet a few more million will be spent and they're will be about 20 speed cameras in sioux city..... permanent fixtures 50ft above the roadway that out of towners won't fucking think about..

That's why their is signs up and down the interstate- traffic laws monitored by camera... then ye have out of towners putting editorials in our paper bitching about tickets they got..... :pound:

Mile marker is rounded to nearest mile.....

That camera has been in the same place for about two months.. just as you curve around to the right about halfway between hamilton and riverside blvd....

I'd say your pretty much fucked sir....

In my DD, the House has already banned them as being 'unconstitutional', and it is now headed to the Senate.

We have a right in this country to face our accuser.
This is a computer generated ticket with a computer generated LE officers signature. It's not even signed w/ a pen.

Fuck Iowa, just dont pay

They got their asses covered.

It says if you don't pay the private company files with a collection agency, which will fuck your FICO credit score...

Fucking extortion...

I agreed with you when they first went up.....

Especially with the red light cameras......

I had two issues with the red light cameras at first.
1. Sometimes it's safer to run the red light than get rear ended....
2. It made a lot of people fucking slam on the brakes when the light turned yellow... :L

however after 18 months or so.... they've shown stats on the local news... and the city is much safer..... and my insurance rates have actually dropped about 15 bucks a month.....

Anything to make the roads safer.... I'm all for....

Now if they would just make it fucking illegal for people to use cell phones..... I'd be happy

If i'm fucked than so be it. However, my expertise is radar and I've beat speeding tickets before, one in May 2011 right here in Omaha..

I've got until mid-August to do some poking around and find some holes. I love a good challenge. ;)

I guess my biggest question is.....

If there is a sign entering the city that says- "traffic laws monitored by camera"

Why in thee fuck would you be going 67 in a 55......

I know the radar isn't off because I go through their going 57 all the damn time- the rumor is they have a 5 mph cushion- I've yet to test it...

Haha.... go for it sir.... don't bother me- I could care less about the city of sioux city... fuckers don't buy Deere equipment yet they always pimp "keep the green in siouxland" yet most of their major purchases are made in FUCKING SIOUX FALLS!!!!!!!!!! :L :L :L
