I have a medical question for you. On Friday I was walking and reached back for something and felt some pain in my lower back. It hurt but not too bad and I stretched it out. A couple hours later I fell asleep on the couch watching Seinfeld (I have a hard life) and when I got up my lower back really hurt and my left leg hurt too. For a minute I just stood there because anything I did hurt.
Within minutes I felt much better but two days later I am still a bit sore. Just on my lower back, no more leg pain. Things where I have to twist hurt a bit. Should I ice the area or use heat or just leave it alone? Should I stretch it out or just leave it alone for a couple days? Or should I make sure my affairs are in order and sit quietly in the corner waiting for the end to come.
Thanks.

Pain down the legs is rather common when it comes to low back pain, so don't be alerted too much by that. Did you happen to get any sort of numbness/tingling/shooting type pain down the leg? You do have to wary of that because that's a sign of nerve root impingement (AKA disc inflammation pinches nerve in LB that travels down leg). It sounds like a run-of-the-mill muscular strain though. I'd start by icing it today and trying to take it easy, make sure you have good lumbar support and all, then if it feels better tomorrow you can try to heat and stretch (I'm always a bit more hesitant to say heat right away because if you have any inflammation it'll make the problem worse). Be very careful stretching though, don't want to reaggravate anything. Make sure to sleep "appropriately" too. So, side lying w/ pillow between knees, on back with pillow under knees, absolutely not on your stomach.

Thanks will do. I don't think it was a shooting pain in the leg - for like 5 minutes my back and leg really hurt bad. After that just lower back soreness. Today its mainly bothered me getting in and out of the car. I am not to worried as I didn't really hurt it doing anything, just twisted wrong I guess. Thanks again

"Did you sleep well?"
"No, I made a few mistakes."

Hi Pix. I hyper-extended my elbow about ten days ago and it keeps getting better and then getting sore again. What's that all about? If it feels fine, I try to practice or work out or lift shit and then it hurts again. When to be better please?

(Walks into SportsHoopla infirmary... Thinks 'whoa, it's crowded')

Hey Pix. I've had an erection for the past 5 and a half hours. I've had a Kate Upton animated gif running on my screen all that time. Is that related? What should I do?

Comeds - These are the kind of days you must be really glad you have a butler. Have Mr. Baltvedere take good care of you while you recover. Hope ya feel better.

You too, Vee.

And...end scene.

It would only be a problem if it was Kate Moss.

Have any swelling? Elbows are a bit tricky. I'd avoid lifting for maybe 4-5 days (still practice though), and ice afterwards. I do know a good tape job for that, but obviously that's not really practical now. Just gotta make sure you don't hyperextend it again. Hyperextension doesn't really affect tendons/ligaments too much, but you could get a nice bone bruise, and those are just painful as heck.

Yessir. Your lumbar spine will have no support and it'll kill your alignment. Some people just revert to that position though, so it's difficult.
