The biggest change I've seen is interference or obstruction (do they ever call that?) after the lock out they were called a lot but now you see it all the time and it's not called.

I know people bitch about the refs dictating the game but what are the rules? If you interfere with a player it's a penalty....period. If the players are too dumb to adapt so be it, your team should be short handed. A penalty is a penalty and now it seems like the ref have lost their focus and looking so hard for head shots that they are not calling the other penalties.

Just noticed this from the article "Said Fraser: “Teams were built to play a certain way. Then when the rules of engagement were changed you might have a team for a brand of hockey that no longer exists.”

This had an effect on a lot of teams.

And they've had enough time to fix it.

I tend to agree with Frazer and Sedin. Rules are rules. But then again "Letting them play" has always been a problem, especially come playoff time.

Interference is called so inconsistently, that it almost seems like they should do away with it.

Except for the 5 minute variety, that needs to stay to allow refs the ability to punish asshat agitator types who try to bend the rules with borderline late hits.

Sorry but I think they call way to much shit now. I certainly do not want more penalties.

I don't want to go back to the hug fest or clutch and grab that was more like prom night than hockey.

It's a game of skill, let them use it and not let marginal players grab on to more skilled players to even the score....sorry, I don't want to go there.

Nor do I.

I will clarify. I hate the current delay of game penalty. The ref should have more judgement there.

I hate the instigator penalty.

I cannot stand how inconsistent they call interference.

I agree Boss, if you're not fast enough to keep up, then you don't belong or you SHOULD get burned. Teams used to win Cups with a bunch of Brent Gilchrests riding around the other team's superstars like the pony they never got for Christmas. That's not hockey, and it's not entertaining.

In my opinion the problem is they call the playoffs differently than the regular season. Doesnt matter to me how many penalties are called . More , less, whatever .
Just be consistent . Hooking is hooking on the first day of the season as it is the last day of the playoffs . Call it all the time or dont call it ever . BUT BE CONSISTENT .

I agree in principle, but the game does in fact change in the playoffs. It speeds up, it becomes more intense, it's different... reffing the regular season and moving to the playoffs is like reffing in the A and moving to the NHL.

Wait a minute, if the refs were to call a consistent game, then what would we bitch about when our team loses?

I like the way they call the game in the playoffs. Players should have to earn their goals, the ticky tack interference crap is for the birds. If you want glory man up and take it, complaining is for sissies and communists...

I wish I would have called him comrade TrueNiners...

That's different it has to do with my team, who always gets screwed by cheating refs and cheap shot hacks. :suds:

Seriously though, you won't find anyone who is more critical of the Sharks than Sharks fans. They remind me of the Asian kid from Grandma's Boy
