Belichick was spoiled by Brady. All he had to do was build a solid D, which is his strength. His ability to build an offense without HOF
QB is under severe scrutiny.

look at all the GREAT (HOF) coaches WHO COULDN'T WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP without the HOF QB.

shoot...looking at both Dallss coaches, Walch? Lombardi?

All Hail Joe Gibbs as the GOAT
Tom Flores with Plunkett. Think it was Flores then

but yeah.
Gibbs did it with three non HOF QBs!

maybe the HOF coaches had something to do with being a HOF QB. I think it's safe to say Staubach gave credit to "the man with the hat". Looks like Aikman feels the same with Jimmy. I bet Montana and Young tips their hat towards the Genius.

maybe I don't understand the point of he thread.

Yeah.
I am not sure Brady becomes the Brady we all know if his HC was David Shula or Hue Jackson, instead of Belichick.

Don Shula was the goat, took 4 different quarterbacks to the Super Bowl. With two of them being Hall of Famers, but it is a wonder that Griese was a hall of famer. Since the Dolphins went undefeated they probably felt like they had to put the quarterback in.

Amazing that he had one losing seasons in 25 years

Niners have 9 Pro Bowlers on their team. Patriots have 0. If team building is the sign of a great coach then certainly there is a big gap there.
Pro bowl is stupid, 49ers Young was an alternate while Budda Baker and Bobby Wagner got unworthy selected

Being considered a pro bowler jumped the shark probably decades ago.
When people started voting for it instead of just the NFL dealing with it, it became a joke.
One year Sean Lee wasnt invited to the probowl but his peers voted him an All-Pro!

Could you imagine a system where All-Pros dont make the probowl!

So I wouldnt worry about who is or isnt a probowler. its just a popularity thing nowadays.

And I am pretty sure Belichick gets fired in NE if Bledsoe doesn't get injured. Guy has won 1 playoff game in 11 seasons as HC w/o him. You absolutely need to have a strong team around no matter who the QB is. When Parcells and Pioli were involved with the draft they drafted some great players here. Last 10 years under BB buying the groceries has been effing horrible, he is still stuck in the last millenium where defenses won championships. He trades up to get kickers, ST specialists and guys on D instead of the need of guards and tackles and the development of QB's has been horrible. Look at Stefanski who I believe is on his 5th QB this season and other coaches with their 2, 3rd QB and are in playoffs

I agree Aikman - and probably Bradshaw - are not in the HOF without their coaches.

Landry was 162-133 without Staubach, which is still pretty good. Aikman and Jimmy were both pretty good in the end without each other.

Belichick has been stymied without Brady. So if you're looking to hire a coach, Belichick hasn't really proven he can make it work with another QB. And Rivera is probably better than he gets credit for (though I'm not a fan).

what was it?
20 consecutive winning seasons.

Landry made Meredith & Danny White better football players. Great offensive football HOF coaches like Landry and Bill Walch are more where I was going than a great defensive HOF coach like Belichick.

i think I derailed this with HOF coach.

The list should put Pete Carroll's entire record on there. Russell Wilson was never a HOF QB and never will be.

I never felt like he was but he was generally considered a shoo-in at the time he left Seattle.
