Rumors around here are Sutter is the top off season FA priority & that he already said that he'd play in Chi cause its close to his family. The 2nd rumor had me surprized tho. Hawks are interested in Nash and rumor is Kane is the trade bait cause the Hawks are starting to get sick of his shit. Donno if you guys heard bout the lastest bar incident where he was starting fights & was apprently choking a girl and then passed out at the bar... Despite the summer time Kane partying, Id still gladly trade marleau of Kane if its possible.

thoughts?

Sutter is going to be top of everyones FA list so that's not really a surprise. Right now I see Detroit as the team who'll offer up the most money for him.

Kane is getting the rep that Wilson stays far away from, Mark Bell part II. Since winning the cup he hasn't seemed to put too much of his mind or effort into hockey.

Was Chicago on Nash's list of six teams he'd accept a trade to? It was LA, San Jose, Boston, Vancouver, Toronto, and NYR wasn't it? Just something to keep in mind, though that list may change.

I'm not sure Howson can afford to trade his franchise player for another who is showing a lot of off ice issues.

I dont really like how everyone gets bent outa shape when hockey players party. Its not like Kane does it during the season. He's young & single and if he likes to get wasted and bang the groupies in the off season, props to him. I remember a time when I was little when hockey players were known for their partying and it was widely accepted. Now on top of most players being pussies these days, its also frown apon to have fun in the NHL...
As for Sutter, yes Det & Chi were said to be his top 2 choices at the moment, with him saying because he wants to stay close to his family which is in I think wisconsin...

And Mark Bell was always a scrub, so its not really a comparison. The DUI was hardly to blame for his demise. It was that in Chicago he was the most talented scrub on a team of scrubs, so when you put him around talent he looked like the true shitty player he was.

The DUI is what put Bell on Wilson's shit list and the primary reason for his quick departure from San Jose. Wilson has even admitted as much. If Kane has issues with drinking Wilson would show him the door in no time as well, hence the Mark Bell part II. That reference had nothing to do with their ability to play hockey.

It's not the partying or having fun that people frown upon. It's the excessive drinking and poor choices/poor behavior that stem from it. If the Hawks are trying to get rid of him because they are sick of this behavior as you claim then it's pretty obvious it hasn't been limited to just the offseason and is probably affecting his on ice preformance.

Its not that effects his on ice performance, and it does just happen in the offseason. But with the hawks you have to understand, this was a franchise that was in the shitter for YEARS after the Roenick departure. This is a franchise that had a lot of issues to with bad breaks from former stars. It wasnt until Bowman & other people were brought in that these bad things were repaired, like fall outs with Mikita, B. Hull, the cup win etc. The franchise is trying to bring back the proud original 6 heritage. The Kane shit, where I always thought its minor, a few instances, in chicago HE IS the biggest thing besides Derrick Rose, so anything he does that draws bad media is blown up everywhere.. .OMG He was in a limo with his shirt off with 3 ugly girls HOW TERRIBLE!! OMG after the stanley cup parade Kane went bar hopping and brough the cup and got trashed and let fans drink out the cut HOW TERRIBLE!!! OMG after the hawks lost in the playoffs Kane got hammered and wore a Tshirt mocking himself with the limo thing (shirt say Two 5's = a 10) and passed out in a bar, HOW TERRIBLE... The hawks are tryin to steer away from the bad media while trying to sell a product that was absent for years. The fans dont care & they love kane, esp the ladies, but the media and org dont like it & that is why he was mentioned in the rumors of the hawks being sick of it. There is also no "proof" behind that rumor either.

As it pertains to the Sharks you've answered your own query. The Hawks don't want that image, justified or not, for their franchise and neither does Wilson in San Jose. Doug still has strong ties with Chicago and while we, as bystanders, don't have all the facts as to the events or what impact they had on the Hawks organization, you can bet Wilson does.

The only way I see Wilson making a move for Kane is if someone Doug trusts gives Kane a vote of confidence like Yzerman and Devellano did for Heatley prior to his trade to San Jose.

Detroit is in a position to make a huge splash. They have 18 guys under contract for next season, and are around $20M under the cap, Even if Lidstrom comes back, that still leaves them around $13M or so. I'm guessing they go hard after both Parise and Suter, and it wouldn't surprise me if they landed both of them. I'd actually be surprised if they don't get at least one of them.
Hawks are in about the same position the Sharks are. They have 21 guys signed, and about $6M available. Suter is gonna get a huge deal, and I don't know if teams like the Hawks or Sharks will be able to afford him, unless they make some other big moves to clear cap space.
I did hear the same rumors about Kane. I would definitely look into getting him if the Hawks want to move him. He's done some stupid shit, but he's young. Maybe being around a group of vets would help keep him in line.

if there is any kind of way parise can come to the sharks I could see him changing this team for the better. he makes everyone around him work hard and he goes all out 110 percent every game.

I don't think I can watch the sharks next year unless they do something spectacular, especially if the kings win the cup. Too much heart break and on top of that we could be the only team in California without a Cup. That just FUCKING sucks.

Getting Parise would be awesome, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. The Sharks have never had a big free agent signing. I know Wilson has called it the silly season, and a lot of teams have signed guys to ridiculous deals, but he needs to explore every avenue to improve this team. I'd be on the phone making Parise a big offer as soon as it's allowed.

This was discussed in a thread around the trade deadline, and somehow, someway the Hawks have a butt-ton more cap space then the sharks. Maybe those numbers have changed, cause the salary cap is like calculous to me, but at trade deadline the hawks had like 15-20mil+ that they could take on, while SJ only had a couple mil. So im gonna say based off that, SJ has a lot less room to work with then the Hawks, thus all these threads about clearing out high prised space like Murry, Marleau & Neimi in order to make room for any FA, or nash...

Yeah, I remember that too. I was surprised when I looked the other day and saw they were almost the same.
Seems like the cap info always changes. Cmon, do you know where the Hawks and Sharks currently stand?

The Shark currenlty have a little over $55.5m commited to contracts for next season divided among 14 players (7 forwards, 5 dmen, 2 goalies). Using this years max cap number ($64.3m) the Sharks have a little more than $8.7m in cap space. That comes out to about $1.1m average salary per spot to fill out a 22 man roster

Chicago has a little over $56.3m committed to 19 players (12 forwards, 5 dmen, 2 goalies). That gives them $8.0m to fill their 3 remaining spots.

Also note that most GM's are going under the assumption the cap will be close to $69.0m next season.

Like lying women, the salary cap is something i will never understand... But it is interesting to me that the Sharks now have more room then the Hawks, when 3 months ago the hawks had like 10mil more...

Wonder if the Hawks would take Niemi back... Another rumor (the dumbest one I heard yet) was Chicago being highly interested in Poongo

Thanks for the info Cmon.
Sharks need to add at least 1 quality D-man and 2 3rd line forwards. Not sure how they are going to be able to pull that off.
