Since you share a birthday with my daughter, I'll tell you what we did for her. She had an insane giant slumber party at Nana's, and then we had a party the next day at a local pottery place. The had it all set up for the kids to pick out their own pieces, paint them and fire 'em up in the kiln. Pretty cool idea. (the wife's) Everybody had a blast, and she got spoiled friggen' rotten with all kinds of gifts.....
