Just got back from the Caps game...
Hansen deserved a star of the game. He was AWESOME! Of course his forecheck work and great pass to jumbo to start the scoring was solid, but his two-way play was superb! He played almost 5 mins of PK time, and was super effective disrupting the caps break out with a good stick, winning battles to clear pucks, and was the top PK forward by TOI and second on the team all while sticking the caps with a big 0 for 5, which was of course the difference in the game on special teams. The PP gets the glory, but hansen was just as good. for good measure, he led the team in hits too...
I know it's just one game, but he was really brought in for a few key reasons:
1. Ignite the Joes at even strength... Check.
2. pick up a mediocre PK... Check.
3. provide a good two-way game with some physicality, battle, and smart plays... Check.
I look forward to watching what he can do, but one game in, I am already thrilled.
