Wow, I can't believe that's been 25 years.

1989.

First ever NCAA tournament I ever watched, and still one of the best.

Edit: 1990 actually.

Lol.

It wasn't that old. But if memory serves me correctly, there was only one cable channel to watch college basketball. ESPN Main. And I don't think they had games on every weeknight.

Just last night, there were 4 or 5 games on at the same time at both the 7 and 9 pm slots, not to mention the games on WatchESPN online. Great time to be a college hoops fan.

Sports in general has expanded insanely since then.

We cannot stress enough the importance of AED's and training. There was in fact an AED present in the gym where Gathers collapsed. But nobody went to get it.

There was a great interview on DP this morning with Bo Kimble, Hanks' best friend. A great guy. He is very active with the 44-for-life foundation. Raising awareness for SCA and offering ECGs to kids.

I'm having a tough time remembering everything. I don't think we had cable until I was a freshman in high school.. and I can't find a picture of this, but I think I remember watching Berman and Gumbel and they wore rmatching gold jackets and had that VERY plain espn backdrop. Sportscenter then was NOTHING like it is now.

I'll never forget Bo Kimble shooting his first free throw in each game with his left hand. For a kid my age it was a very touching gesture.

Berman and Patrick actually reported on the Gathers death on Sportscenter and there's a clip on Youtube.

You can google it.

Yes, NOTHING like it is now, definitely.
