Habs are confident he'll be fully recovered and ready to go next season which is great news...

Max Pacioretty signed a two-year, $3.25 million contract with the Montreal Canadiens on Monday.

Last season, Pacioretty scored 14 goals and added 10 assists for 24 points in 37 games.

He started the season with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League before being called up for good in December.

His season came to an abrupt end in March when a hit by Zdeno Chara caused him to suffer a fractured vertabrae in his neck.

Pacioretty was slated to become a restricted free agent on July 1.

Not a bad deal. The cost is pretty good given that, if you take that over an 82 game season, you're talking 31 + 22 = 53 points.

And there's very little risk to the Habs with the injury, because I'm pretty sure his injury would qualify him for LTIR and get them the cap relief.

I heard Dr. Recchi is also a salary cap expert and economist, maybe he can weigh in?

Well since the Jeff Conaway incident I hear Dr. Drew may be on the outs and it may now be Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Mark Recchi.

Perhaps he was not as injured as the reports out of 911 calling Montreal had suggested?

Is this where Dr. Recchi chimes in and says he can't hear you because he has two rings in his ears and a spare one for emergency cases?

How long were they originally calling for him to be out? He was hit March 8, so that gives him about 7 months to recover before the beginning of the next season.

That almost makes sense, both as a sentence and as a statement.

How long were they originally calling for him to be out? He was hit March 8, so that gives him about 7 months to recover before the beginning of the next season.

Originally it was indefinitely, then Martin commented that while he was still out indefinitely it was possible he could return in time for the playoffs. I assume things did not go well on that front because he was no where near ready.
