He's not terrible. He was fine here, but there was 2 problems:

1. He's not a natural fit with Eddie Jackson. They're both more rangy free safeties, just that Jackson is much better.
2. The bears don't have a lot of money to throw around when they just made Jackson the highest paid safety in the NFL.

Were the above not the case, I wouldn't have a problem with keeping him.

I've seen him play quite a bit and really don't know what you're talking about. The guy isn't Ronnie Lott, but he is a solid starter. PFF had him ranked 19, which is about right, and still a massive upgrade over Heath

Good ballhawk, good in coverage. Shitty tackler and doesn't play downhill well. Sometimes takes some bad angles. Solid starter. What more can you ask for for a 1 year $4 mil deal?
