Same exact number as the club option Tampa declined.

Thought they could get him cheaper.

It was a club option. They thought they could get him cheaper because he has family in Clearwater.

They guessed wrong.

Gotcha. Still thought he wanted FLA and no where else

it's a little more than an hour flight from Atlanta to Tampa. Guess he figured the extra millions would make up for it.

I'm just glad he's out of the east. Yankees could never hit his curveball.

And he can travel light, his medicine bag and elixirs will fit comfortably in the overhead compartment....

Hearing you guys are in the market for JA Happ.

Good luck with that. He does have pretty good Fenway numbers career-wise.

Stay away please! But yep, heard that one as well

Then again, Red Sox are "rumored" to be "in" on every FA. Hell, they even had "talks" with Kris Bryant last season.

I thought Morton would look good in Boston.

he supposedly was open to the east coast. Mostly cause he would love in Florida from November through late March, at least). But atl is a good fit too

Morton made it clear that he wanted to stay close to home, and Atlanta is pretty close to Clearwater, relatively. He wasn't going to go too many other places. I think the chance of being in the post-season with another team looked good to him.

yeah. With Morton this year the Braves are probably the champs.

he was 100% going to a team who uses Florida for spring training as well

Would have loved him in Boston! Did ownership even try for him? Doubt it
