NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jay Gruden is the Bengals' "preferred candidate" to replace Marvin Lewis as head coach.
With Lewis nearing the end of his 15-year tenure in Cincinnati, the Bengals are beginning their search for a new head coach. Gruden served as the Bengals' offensive coordinator for three years before joining the Redskins in 2014. He still has three years remaining on his contract, but may be tempted to leave with Kirk Cousins headed for free agency. It's a long shot, but it doesn't hurt for the Bengals to at least kick the tires on Gruden.
