I wish Shaq or Alonso Mourning were on this team instead of Laettner, but nitpicking over the 12th man is a minor detail.

Kind of depends, larry and magic both past prime.

But it's a tall order. In terms of of picking a team with players all from same season.....

No, probably not

Isiah Thomas probably should have been on this team, as well.

Is there any team ever that could give these guys a tough game?

Well they lost a scrimmage to the college team with Grant Hill on it lol

Isiah got robbed because of Jordan

I wonder how the numbers were chosen, randomly I guess? Weird thing to wonder but it was weird seeing all these big stars with sequential numbers

We did a whole thread about this a while back.

OK so today probably the best team you could put together has to include foreigners to win. If it's US players only they might be too old. 6-7 years ago an all American team of: LeBron, Steph, KD, Kawhi, Harden, AD, Butler, Draymond, Kyrie, DeRozan, CP3, Klay (over Dame, for defense) would win a game or two in a series with the DT. Remember this is 2016-2018 versions of these players. Split the difference and say 2017 (GOAT level actual NBA team all 4 main guys have a case to be on this team)

If foreigners are allowed from 2017...take out Draymond add Giannis

If today foreigners are allowed you might put together a team that could compete with DT: Still gotta have LeBron and Steph, we saw them in the Olympics, perfect for a 7 game series, Giannis, Jokic, Luka, Ant Man, Wemby (defense alone gets him there), AD, KD, Fox, Sabonis, Tatum is close is not even with the DT. But todsy with only Americans, the good ones are too old now LOL.

Depends too on style, rules, etc. Inside/post and midrange play vs pace and space 3-point shooting

Shaq, Duncan, LeBron, Kobe, Paul would give them a good game.
But that team was never actually assembled, right? I don’t think any of the Olympic teams post-1992 were close to that kind of talent level with Jordan, Magic & Bird headlining.

It’s hard to argue. Today’s game I just can’t sell on it with how they have made it easier for players to play the game and even score. How traveling is called now is as weak as it’s ever been. Back then if they took the steps todays guys do there would be whistles all game. Players are talented but soft. Players act and flop and cry non stop, lebron is 260 and the way he acts hurt after the most minor grazing makes him look like he’s some 5-8, 145 pound kid.

LOL! That is fair. The roster you mentioned with Lebron, Kobe, Shaq & Duncan would absolutely be a threat.
Though we may need to cut Duncan being from the Virgin Islands. Starting KG isn't really a detriment, just lose some depth.

Superstar step became a thing in the 80s. It is not worse today.

Jordan flopped too. Don’t kid yourself. Every competitor embellishes contact to get calls. Does not make someone soft, it makes them smart.

But it was just the superstar step (which still occasionally got called), now they've legalized what was travelling (and palming) for everyone.

Key word there being legalized for all.

That means it is actually better if everyone is playing by the same rules. Back in the day some guys were allowed to travel and some guys weren’t.

And palming hasn’t been called for a long time

Still some think it would be better if it were enforced for all instead of legalized for all.

To each his own I guess.

Personally I don’t want to go back to the 50s in terms of how the game is called.

But everyone has to play by the same rules.

Rules evolve in every sport.

Not a bad thing
