The article didn't say anything about Goodell, but the new rule is still a crock of shit. It's already started to get out of hand with refs throwing flags on plays that "look violent" even when the replays show a clean hit. For instance, Kam Chancellor on Vernon Davis last year. I'd hate to see what happens in the college ranks where the refs are somehow worse than the ones in the NFL, especially in smaller conferences like the old WAC and Sun Belt. The more of these rules they put into place, the more BS calls we're going to get from refs trying to "play it safe".

While I'm on the subject, can we all agree that the replacement refs in the NFL weren't really that much worse than the normal ones? Sure, the replacement guys got a lot of little things like ball placement and timing rules wrong. But those rules vary from league to league and most of those guys hadn't officiated in the NFL before. I'm not saying they weren't bad, but the amount of big calls they missed was about the same as the number the normal refs missed. Sure the "Fail Mary" was awful, but didn't Ed Hochuli blow a call that swayed a game the year before? The only reason the replacement refs got so much grief was because everybody on ESPN/FOX/CBS would scrutinize every little thing they did.

These plays need to be reviewable. At some point, a player is going to get ejected for making a clean hit and enough people will get pissed off that Goodell will have to listen to them.

Being penalized for the hit Clowney had should get a ref arrested. His face was in his chest, therefor the crown of his helmet was in the facemask causing to pop off. Clowney came in low and didn't target the head. It was a great tackle...

Yah Kam didn't get fined but of course a flag was thrown giving the 49ers an auto 1st. Seattle probably would've tore them 42-9 if they didn't get help here.

At ACC media day, the head of ACC officiating said that he would have ejected Clowney for that hit.

Seriously. Fuck the ACC. :L :L
