Vogey signs a deal with the Buccs. Should be a good landing spot for him with that pitching coach and he can be close to family. He'll be missed and was a great Giant.

Agreed with both. Hopefully he can rebound with the Pirates.

Wow, those last 5 years went by incredibly quick. Great run in his return, and it would be pretty cool if he could pitch well for the Pirates. Full circle.

Whew. Much better thread than I anticipated! When I first saw the title, before clicking on the thread, I thought filo was leaving the board!

Vogey was a great Giant. First, his trade netted us Jason Schmidt, who pitched the two best years of his career for us, before going to the Doggies and sucking up loads of money and getting injured and not pitching much. Not to mention that Vogey blew his arm out 2 starts after the trade to the Pirates. Then, he came back to the Giants, gave us two damn good years, one decent year, and two crappy seasons for not much money at all. He was a HUGE part of 2012 and 2014.

I wish him luck, and may he wear his two WS rings with pride in the Pirate's locker room.

That was so two years ago man.

:heh:
You know, now that I think about it...

Wasn't that just a bit after you hazed tz something fierce just for saying he was leaving out of frustration? Then, just months later, POOF. You were gone...

Just sayin...

I hazed tz something fierce? If I did, I don't remember doing it and if so, my bad. I do remember hoping that he'd reconsider.....

Ok, ok...

We ALL hazed him for that episode. And maybe GP was the primary foil in the situation(??).

Either way, just having fun...

Lol, I think you got the wrong guy. I honestly don't remember hazing him, but I'm sure I could be wrong.

I did give tz crap after the Hanley/Arias thing.....but I was more just sticking up for myself imhumbleo.

Regardless, lol, I will wear the HF hat loud and proud. I didn't catch on to your sarcasm.

Yep, Vogey was a very nice upside surprise, the last piece of the puzzle. Always inspiring to see someone basically down and out come back to get some bright shining moments. And $18.4 million in cumulative salary so far.

We forget because of all the ridiculous numbers that some players get paid, but 18M can still be generational money. If it is handled properly, his grandkids will never have to work a day in their lives.

Depending on how many grandkids and where they live....after the agent takes 10% and taxes, that's about $8 mil. You can draw about $300K/year off that and maintain the principal, which is a nice living but hardly living large. Then if you have 4 grandkids they get $2 mil each....so maybe if they live somewhere cheap like Iowa.

IIRC, I wasn't getting hazed so much as pretty frustrated with an historic start followed by a couple months of complete and utter shitshow. I was unhappy and others were unhappy with me. So, I chilled out for a bit.
