orbes' Mike Ozanian reports Daniel Snyder has hired Bank of America to sell the Washington Commanders.

It's news for which Washington fans have waited for two decades. Ozanian said "Snyder and his bankers are exploring all options and a transaction could be for the entire NFL team or a minority stake." Snyder has interest from "at least" four groups looking to purchase the team, which is valued at $5.6 billion despite 30 years of futility. He could remain part of the organization depending on the details of the sale. This is surely welcomed news for NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and the other 31 NFL owners. Snyder and his organization have become embarrassments for both the league and a Washington fanbase that has whittled down to almost nothing. Most Washington home games sound like away games for the Commanders.

If this wasn't happening Dan would have already put out a statement saying we have no plans to sell majority ownership of the Commanders.

Damn. I may have to become a fan again. Clearly, someone finally has something on him that might stick.

Sportster, Breed and skinsdad, is this the beginning of the end?

You all went through the Cooke sell, is this similar to the opening steps then?

All I remember is JKC didn't leave the team to his son who apparently couldn't get the financing. Some other guy won the bidding but there the NFL nixed it if I remember right. Snyder was going to be a minority owner. I think Jerrah helped tell Dan how to buy the team.

It is a step. I think Dan is leveraged quite a bit. He could pay off his debt and still have a shit ton of money. I'll believe it when it happens.

As I recall, Jack Kent Cooke wrote his son out of his will - specifically because he didn't think his son was interested in doing what he needed to do to keep the Redskins an elite franchise (laughabe now, of course).

I don't think the sale to Dan Snyder - a lifelong passionate redskins fan, and self-made billionaire like jack kent cooke - was thought of as hostile or controversial.

It's only later that we all see Snyder's ineptitude.

What happens now? I am guessing:

Bids/proposals are submitted to Bank of America, who is acting as a broker for Snyder
Snyder selects the bid/proposal he wants
The league owners then vote on approval of the sale/new owner
Ownership changes at an agreed upon time

Bottom line, somebody needs to offer Dan a deal he cannot refuse. I don't like the fact that it "could" be for a minority stake or full stake. We need Dan out.

With any luck, the bids will start coming in and this gets wrapped up in 6 months. I am probably wrong as I have never seen this happen up close.

Retaining 51% is a very Snyder thing to do, but of course, this is coming from an outsider. Maybe I’m wrong.
