i'm not upset with the thought of carter centering our 2nd or 3rd line for years to come. he's a good player. he's got a wicked wrister. i guess i'd comment that what you see is what you get. he's not gonna get any better than what he is, or if he does it won't be by another 10 goals a season. he simply lacks a certain killer instinct that you want to see him play with.

That was a very good article, and I think it finally cleared up some of my personal confusion on why the Flyers feel he is untouchable. The one point I don't agree with is moving Richie to the wing to allow Carts to center the top line. With Carts skill set I see him moving to LW and rivaling Ovie for goal totals again. It may just be that I was brought up to believe your best passers shoudl be centers and Richie's vision on the ice far surpasses Carts "shoot and see" attitude.

carter and richards should both play center.. so should briere.. giroux has been a RW for most of his life, he should be the one on the wing

moving richards to the wing is laughable, same with briere

the only way carter would be a good winger, IMO, is if we had a power forward that played center and could claim the rebounds from his 500+ shot attempts during the season.. carter is a shooter, than is a puck hog, and we have nobody that would complement that at center ice.. (hartnell, jvr, and the grinders would complement him well on the wings)

This article says nothing a fan didn't already know. Of course he is only going to be traded in a blockbuster deal.. Other than that you live with his good goal scoring and mediocre everything else. Thats the way sports are.

he could have done that as a defenseman. in the nhl, you know the thing he is a part of right now, he has been better as a center. besides, the flyers are not paying carter 5 mil a year to be a third line center.

He's been better as a center because he's only been playing center for the last year. When he played wing, who did he have as his center? Metropolit? The Flyers have been substantially deeper on the wing than at center since he got here, so he was playing with guys 10x better when he was a center than when he was a winger.

um no. he played on a line with richards and gagne before and did not do well. he puts up points as a center on a line with jvr and asham. metropolit is a better player than them. jvr will be better in the future although he was not this year.

Interesting little tidbit: he has a higher career PROD as a winger than as a center.

because as a winger he gets more time on ice.

Production should stay the same as ice time increases. It's points over time, so as long as you are scoring at the same rate, it should be neutral. It being higher with him on the wing implies that he plays with worse centers or scores fewer points per minute on the wing.

No, I meant higher PROD = better PROD by about 5 minutes. And he got about 80 seconds per game less on the wing than as a center.

he is better defensively than carter and briere. being on the wing limits his playmaking ability. and it helps our team out more to have him at center since it give us 3 good lines. i doubt having a line of jvr, carter, and carcillo would do much.

1.) he is better defensively than carter and briere.
2.) being on the wing limits his playmaking ability.
3.) and it helps our team out more to have him at center since it give us 3 good lines. i doubt having a line of jvr, carter, and carcillo would do much.

1.) You can be terrific defensively and play the wing. It hasn't prevented Marian Hossa from playing the wing. Or, taking a ride on the Wayback Machine, it didn't stop Jere Lehtinen from winning 3 Selkes.
2.) Try explaining that to this guy.

3.) Nobody is saying move Giroux away from JvR. I'm all for a 3rd line of JvR-Carter-Giroux. That could be the fastest line in the league. It's got everything. Sniper? Carter. Dangler? Giroux and JvR. Power forward? JvR. Playmaker? Giroux. Grinder? Giroux. Fighter? Depends who's on defense. Then you have Carcillo up with Richards and Zherdev. Richards loves having Carcillo on his line. He was the reason Carcillo was there in Game 3 against the Devils.

Who teh hell are we trading and when are we gonna do it? Jeff Carter hasnt been mentioned for a little while now that Gagne "waived" is NTC. This is some sick, cruel joke and noone knows what the next turn will lead to.

according to sarah baicker zherdev could be announced as early as tomorrow. i am guessing they do not want to give up leverage in a gagne trade. if they sign zherdev then people will know we have to get rid of gagne.

most likely they will announce the zherdev deal right after gagne is traded.
