He's a good one.

Fits in perfectly with Agholor doing nothing all year.

The offense has been lack luster.

I don't like giving up a 3rd for a player who's scheduled to be a free agent after the season. That being said, Agholor/Mathews are not doing enough to compliment Alshon and Ertz ... Tate is an obvious upgrade to the slot and is another weapon defenses will have to account for. Hopefully we extend him as he is still a damn good player; have a feeling Carson will love his RAC ability.

When we signed him almost all fans thought we overpaid, but he proved us wrong. A third rounder is steep, but I think by the end of the year most Eagles fans will be happy to have him.

It is a great move, period! Draft picks are based upon potential. True, we have to sign him to a longer term contract. Plus, we still have to get Osemele, from Oakland. Also, the DT from Detroit to go along side Fletcher - A'Shawn Robinson, if the rumor is true that he is available.

I'm thinking that's over-paying.
This team is not going to compete for the bowl. We're just not in the same class as NO and LA.
The only way it makes any sense is if they think it will be cheaper to sign tate than agholor. Agholor has not been as productive primarily because they' spent the first 5 weeks moving him around and because we have a non-existent running game. he plays in those spaces behind the lb's and if they're not respecting the run his work area gets much smaller.

Lol. Many of you will love the trade when he repeats his performance vs the Cowboys like what he did with the Lions in week Four. I believe he has over 120 yds receiving and 2 tds.
Edit: Tate had 132 yds receiving and scored the Lions only two Tds. We have the Cowboys to play twice. I think Wentz will be a happy camper moving forward. Groh and Dougie can be creative on the playcalling again.

I immediately went and looked up his contract. A third for a half season rental is some crap if it plays that way.

But....I really like Tate and trust that if Howie extends him than Tate fits into the bigger plan.

You think Tate goes to the slot? I imagined him going to #2 outside and Nelly back to slot full time where he belongs.

Don't love it. Don't hate it. The price is a bit much which might be that Howie felt pressured to do something and nothing else was working out.

First off, love the deal. Granted it was steep, but what the Eagles are getting is a true playmaker that will immediately make our offense that much more dangerous. More toys for Doug and Groh to help Wentz, especially in our third down struggles.
on another topic, some good news, Jernigan should be back to active status after bye week. Things looking more positive for us.

Tate is probably the most underrated wr in the league. You guys will love this half year and you might even sign him back.

I agree with you. The 3rd round pick doesn't bother me that much. Granted it's a steep price for 8 games, but with the Eagles will be much better offensively and hopefully some of our guys will get healthy so we can defend our title.

To me, I like Tate bacause we now have a "waterbug" type WR who constantly gets open, and does something with the ball when it's in his hands. an Edelman type, only I think he's better. He also can be dangerous on "wheel" routes, as he was a rB at Notre Dame, I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

The fact that we would get back a 4th rounder in compensation makes me feel better about the deal. So if he leaves via free agency after the season we basically just moved back one round to rent him for the rest of the season. That's not a bad deal to get arguably the best slot receiver in the league to help out our Offense.

The more I think about it, I am really excited to see what our offense can do the rest of the season. And, I won't put it past Howie to manage to extend him for a few more years, and still make room for Wentz. Several vets won't be back, and Howie can replace them with draftees. And, some of the vets can have their contracts restructured, which Howie is a master with.

I will try to find the link somewhere for a scenario in regard to resigning Tate and doing some restructuring to make the cap work. Seroous, Howie is one of the tops in the NFL at his game.

They needed help in the passing game. Scoring is down almost a TD per game from last season.

Tate can score TDs. I like this move.

Good timing on this trade as well since we're on a bye. Gives Tate that much extra time to learn the Offense and get on the same page with Wentz.
