Okay, I have a problem with the following:

2. Patrick Roy (Colorado) vs. Mike Vernon (Detroit)

Peter Forsberg of Colorado started things off March 26, 1997, when he took a swing at Detroit’s Igor Larionov, but this massive brawl was all about retribution for Claude Lemieux’s hit from behind on Kris Draper in ’96. Darren McCarty went ballistic on Lemieux. The goalies got involved, too. Roy entered the scuffle and eventually found Vernon and Brendan Shanahan teaming up on Adam Foote. Roy took Vernon’s head, cupped it in his glove and started wailing on Vernon’s face. The crowd went bananas at Joe Louis Arena.

The crowd went bananas because Vernie beat Roy to a bloody pulp. Check it out on youtube and come to your own conclusion.

He got the best punch of the fight (not including the Shanahan clothesline), but Roy landed more for sure. And seriously, who scores a takedown by pulling on the back of someone's knee? I thought for a second that Vernon was going for a Perfect-Plex.

Hockeyfights gives the decision to Verrnon (almost 60% of those who bothered to vote) - Granted, with only 186 votes, it's a small sample size.

McCarty scored the wnning goal in OT and Vernon got his 300th victory. I would say Vernon won. Of course, I have very slanted vision on this subject.

I'd trust those voters as much as I'd trust Mike Milbury to run a franchise.

Corey Schwab skating the length of the ice to beat Tommy Sondstrom to a pulp. My (then young) son and I were at the game and sitting behind the Isles goal (where the beating took place) and it was great.

Schwab got tossed from the game but the crowd chanted Corey...Corey...Corey for several minutes after he went to the lockerroom. Maybe the best was that night on the late news saw a picture of Broduer (having a rare night off...almost) doing an almost comic triple take when he noticed Corey skating down ice (he had been watching the original "gang" fight) and 1st saw him coming out of teh corner og his eye. .

First thing I thought of when I saw the thread title. Unfortunately all the youtube vids are terrible quality.
