WTF is going on with the NHL?!?!

ok, i can understand the rookie of the year thing, read is 25. i can live with it.

GM of the year has always been sort of a gimmicky award anyway, so i can live with that too.

Giroux not nominated for the MVP? thats just flat out wrong.
MVP..most VALUABLE player..

let's see..

the nominees were..

malkin.. alright i can get that with crosby out much of the season and the numbers he put up

lundqvist... the key to their first place finish, but at the same time, he already got nominated for the vezina, so idk.

stamkos... pretty sure tampa didn't even make the playoffs and stamkos plays no defense.

now giroux...
the cornerstones of the team were traded, most of the forwards are new or young or rookies. basically, the team was built around him and he had a career year offensively, defensively, on the PP and on the PK. he does it all and was the main reason the flyers finished 5th after trading away half the team and rebuilding.

i guess it doesn't really matter.. all that matters is that big trophy in june.
read a giroux quote.. "at the end of the day, thats not the trophy i want"

either way, would have been nice to see ONE flyer nominated.

Have the nominees been named for the Ted Lindsay Award?
If not there's a chance he'll be in on that.

Meh. Unlike Stamkos and Malkin, Giroux has a bigger trophy in his sights.

I fell pissed at first.
Having said that there is only one trophy that matters.

If G stays healthy next season, he may be able to make a more determined run at the Art Ross and Hart. I don't know how they put Stamkos on a 10th place team ahead of him this time though. That's absurd.

It's ok, I'm sure he'd gladly take the Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup instead.

Exactly. Seeing how Stamkos missed the playoffs, I think Giroux should have gotten the nod, but I'm sure his name on the cup will ease the snub. NOW GO WIN THE THING!!!!!!!!

The Flyers (and everyone in the organization) seem to have been overlooked all year... until they took out the Penguins in the first round. Now everyone's starting to pay a little closer attention.

Realistically, Holmgren is the runaway winner (in my mind) for GM of the year. I think Laviolette (sp?) should get a lot of credit for dealing with the amount of injuries they had, and the turnover of personnel.

Giroux I'm not as upset about if only because there was A LOT of talent on this team this year. A lot of guys stepped up big time which probably made Giroux, even though he was awesome, not as crucial to the team as other teams' top players. (Hence why I think Holmgren and Laviolette deserve serious consideration.)
