He had a hell of a game. We might have just found another beast in the middle that can dominate next to Atkins. I am excited to watch this kid play.

He was great other than the one dumb penalty on the last drive. He bothered Brady all day.

Love our depth on the dline, but Hunt showed he clearly isn't ready as a pass rusher. He did ok against the run though from what I saw.

Hunt is a project, but it's good he can get snaps and develop while not hurting the overall defensive performance too badly. The more he plays, the better he'll get.

The 1 play he rushed had he just jumped he would have picked that shit off! He needs work but playing with the rest of the dline will give him his experience....he didnt look out of place or totally lost but he also needs some pass rush moves...

I thought Hunt was ok. He gets good push with his strength, but needs to work on using other moves to get by blockers. At this level, strength isn't everything.

Dude is huge. He dwarfs just about everyone on the field. He's a solid guy to use at DT on obvious passing downs next to Atkins. Two of the strongest guys on the team with push up the middle is hard to handle.

Again, once he starts getting a few moves down...he's going to be a beast.

Yep he needs a swim move and maybe one more and he'd be unstoppable.

I think he should learn a rip move. With his strength, there's no reason to think he can't get one arm under the lineman's, and simply rip his arm up, and break free.

I'm also a fan of the spin move. Since so many DE's try to either bull rush, or blow by Tackles, I think taking a hard two steps up field and spinning inside is a very effective way to fool tackles since they think that DE's are moving up field to beat theam.

The spin move seems to be somewhat of a lost art for DE's.

I like Gilberry. He's been a nice addition to the team.

I think Gilberry also shows why we won't be re-signing Michael Johnson. Our D-line is so good that it limits the amount that our ends have to deal with double-teams or backs chipping them. I think we'll be just fine at the position with Dunlap, Hunt, Gilberry and an average FA that is paid to provide depth.

Drago just looks too tenative to me when the ball is snapped. He doesn't look like he is playing with much fire right now, is still nervous about doing soemthing wrong that he is thinking too much before a play instead of just pinning his ears back and giving it 100%. His pass rushing move right now, is limited to one move...grab the tackle and see if he can body slam him on top of the QB. His strength is just ridiculous. If he can think less, and actually use that strength to free himself up from the tackle instead of just trying to run him over, he could be just unstoppable.

He really needs to learn to have a fast take off around the corner, lean his body into the side of the tackle, fast hands to knock the tackles arms off him and then use his lower body stregth to gain leverage around the outside corner.

He just looks like he is playing awefully slow right now, and is not trying to progress on his outside rush move. If he can do those couple things, 1) stop thinking so much, and 2) work on a different move...look out.

I thought he got better as the game went on. He stood up that left tackle and literally pushed him back into Brady several times... like a tackling dummy!

Yeah, like I said, he is strength is off the charts, but he is not going to get to a QB very often in this league just trying to push 330 pound tackles back into QB's. In college that might have worked more frequently, but he is already an old rookie, and soon he is not going to be able to rely solely on strength, he is goign to have to learn a 2nd and 3rd move to help offset age and opposing talent. I like his potential though.

Hunt needs some move that forces the olineman to not just dig in and stop the bull rush. If they have to be worried about a hard inside rip or a good swim move then when the bull rush does come, there is a better chance that the olineman isn't ready for it, and he gets thrown on top of his quarterback.

Exactly what I was thinking and trying to say. Thank you.

I think Hunt was more concerned that he was doing his job correctly. He had to play a lot on first and second down so he had responsibilities in the run game. He wasn't free to simply rush straight up field or make too many inside moves, or he could be caught on a draw, sweep, etc. I think as he gets better at diagnosing plays and gets more experience with being on the field for long periods of time, you'll see his pass rush improve.

I hope so, because the only move he showed yesterday when allowed to rush, was the bull rush, and that will not work solely in this league if the OT knows what is coming each time on pass rushing downs.
