Not really . It’s the draft . They could smokescreen, trade back
I mean it's weird for a team to publically say they're not interested in a player (supposedly), only to then turnaround and spend a bunch of time with them. Doesn't really seem like they're not interested.

Agreed, but at this time of year the GM's lie about everything to avoid telegraphing their moves.

The next Geno Smith, EJ Manuel, or Kizer - take your pick (so to speak).

Hadn't heard about your car accident btw. Everything OK? Hopefully no messy legal issues or anything to deal with.
Still dealing with mounds of crap. Just returned to work still foggy, headaches and such. Thank you very much for asking!

LOL. Yeah, saying a QB succeeds because of a top running game and O-line is just the same as a couple of players on the other side of the ball. Can you take off your superfan glasses for 5 minutes and see clearly?
I know....they said the same about Aikman

blaming a players success cause of talent around him is what some folks do....I always found that to be kinda a cop out myself. Not many QB's have been successful in this league without talented teammates.

if anyone id say ej manuel of that group. his game doesnt really compare to any. Kizer was not projected high as well. Geno and manuel were. Manuel was kind of a shock he went as high as he did. Geno slid back his last year in college. Haskins game elevated his draft stock. BUt his more stoic than any of them, with a bigger or comprbable arm to manuel.

Haskins is good but I don’t buy that he’s top ten value in this draft. Too many good players at other positions, I’ll pass and wait until 2nd or 3rd to grab a QB

I'm generally of the opinion that if you don't like any of the top QBs in this draft then you just don't grab a QB.

If you wait until rd2 then that means that Bill Bellichick has looked at the QBs left and said 'nope, none of these guys can be groomed to replace Brady' and at that point why bother?

I don't know about all that. Bill has drafted his replacements later than that. Brissett was a 3rd (91 overall, before Dak) and Garoppolo was a 2nd (62 overall, and ended up the 3rd and last viable starter in that draft).

Bill has had somewhat of a luxury with having Brady, though. He hasn't really need to press the QB issue.

While there is an outside shot at finding a QB in rd2 or later in this draft, there is probably a much better chance of finding a starter or even pro bowl level WR in rd2. Starting LB in rd2, starting G in rd2, starting CB in rd2.

The thing about the top 2 QB prospects is that their schools also produce talent. Ohio State produces talent to the NFL at the highest or near the highest in the league. Oklahoma just had their last QB come in and really impress. The track record on Mizzou offensive players isnt good (although the issue plaguing their WRs is generally injuries), Duke doesn't really even have a track record, West Virginia made Geno Smith look like a star...at that point you're doing a deep dive into the draft.

I'm not going to do the research on that but I suspect that deep dives into QB prospects hit somewhere between 5-10% of the time. We see it every year. Logan Thomas is going to be a star. Aaron Murray is legit. Tajh Boyd is underrated. Colt McCoy is going to show them all.

Imo, rookie QB contracts are so team friendly that you'd be almost nuts to pass on a rd1 QB if you need one and you have the coaches and talent in place to groom him.

He reminds me of Jameis Winston without the off of the field issues.

Not significantly. Better than Brady, sure, but is that saying much?
ehh i disagree, jameis is definitely more mobile in the pocket.

Jameis didnt run much is last year only 65 yards but the year before he rushed for 219 yards, he also had 5 td's rushing one year and 4 the other

haskins had 88 and 108 respectively, 4 tds last year. i dunno ive just seen jameis extend plays haskins is lucky he can roll out of the pocket

I think Haskins is probably about on par with Trubisky coming out of college. He looks like an NFL guy but you're really going to need to see him get some starts in the NFL before he can become anything consistent.
I never thought I'd type this sentence but...

I'd like to apologize to Trubisky for making this comparison.
