Very interested. Looks like he had a strong outing. High hopes for him, personally.

Thanks for the link.

Looks to be a pretty good first outing.

4.0 innings pitched, 4 hits, 1 earned run and 7 strikeouts. Not too shabby.:pop2:

I like that kid's attitude in addition to his talent.

I'm not worried about Gerrit Cole. I think he's going to contribute.

I think that's the biggest difference between drafting kids from high school (Taillon), and drafting a young adult from college (Cole). Not that the parents also don't factor into the equation, as well.

Good outing for Cole (although 3 of the 4 hits he gave up were doubles). Too bad that Bradenton lost the game.

It sounds like he got hit around a bit, but also made some big strikeouts in key spots. Professional debuts have to be gut wrenching. Even though they lost, Cole should be happy with his performance. I know I'm very excited about this guy's future.

The game report also said Rojas Jr. has hit safely in all four of Bradenton's games this young season. :high5:

With Cole I think it's bigger for him to do well in the first game. My impression of Cole is that he gets too amped up, elevates and flattens his fastball a bit and then he gets hit hard.
I'd say that's probably why he had 3 doubles against.

In other news Charlie Morton seems to have pitched pretty well in his rehab start. Hopefully he comes back soon and hopefully he pitches like he did last year.

I was pretty impressed with Cole's start, not sure where the doubles were hit, but all 12 outs were either strike outs or ground outs. Since his biggest problem in college was pitch location, I am impressed that his pitches were down enough to induce ground balls. I do find it hard to believe that all 4 hits were on the ground though, but if even two of them were grounders past the bag I would be even more impressed.
