Looking good so far but Gausman was running out of gas in that 6th inning. Fortunately, two of those hard hit balls were caught and Dubon makes the nice play to end the inning without any runs scoring.

The way Northcraft is throwing, the Giants would do well to swing at none of his pitches.

That's not just below average...that's AWFUL. 7 "hitters" below .240 and TicToc. I know Barrels and Yaz are out and Posey and Longo sat, but DAMN that's pathetic

I'm not convinced, yet, that our starting pitching is that good or that our offense is that bad. Assuming that I'm correct on both, I wonder if the team can continue to win at the same clip, or close to it. I do think the starting rotation can still be very good, provided that they all stay healthy. The offense, meanwhile, I believe, can get much better.

Interestingly, MLB ran an article yesterday about the teams that saw the biggest jump in likelihood to make the playoffs, Of the 5 teams profiled, the Giants saw the lowest increase, from 5.7% to 16.4%. The reason? The Dodgers are at 98.6% and the Padres are at 94.7% and, in the words of the author, only two teams from the NL West can make it. However, I just re-read the article today and some astute editor removed that line from the article. I'm surprised that wasn't caught when it was first posted.

And yet, we won today. Don't know how, but we won.

Yes there has to be some regression to the mean on both. No team can pitch this well all year and no team can hit this poorly all year. But it's not out oif the question the pitching stays good like you said and the hitting gets to average. What a massive positive surprise that Posey is his old self again, Longoria is hitting, etc. At least we know they aren't "done". Posey isn't young but he's not THAT old, 33-34 and just had a year off which obviously did him good.

As I said I'm just psyched to watch a team that might make the playoffs, probably a year 'early'. They're on pace to win 97-98 games and that seems high, but I feel pretty good that they will outperform their projections.

Every year a couple teams do much better than projected and a couple do much worse. I think it's the Giants' turn to be one of the upside surprises. Maybe the Royals too? Red Sox? Downside surprises probably Twins? But it's still early on all of it. I just think this team can win 90 games and I did not think that going in. Tougher schedule in May so I doubt they go 16-10 again but I'll be watching!
