Good work by Stevie Y again. Garrison was a player who need to be moved this summer in order for the Lightning to upgrade their blueline. The Lightning gave up a 2nd & 4th in deal as well as Russian prospect Nikita Gusev who looks to be a KHLer but they were able to keep the players they wanted and create cap space. If they were unable to move Garrison to Vegas, they would have had trouble finding another trading partner in my opinion and the Lightning would of gained a low pick and had to retain salary. Instead the Lightning now have $23 mill in cap space. After the Lightning resign their UFA's and RFA's, the bolts are roughly going to have around $10 mill (in my estimation) to spend in FA and for Yzerman to add a top 4 defenseman and some depth in the forward group.
