Went from being a hero to zero in the early 3rd quarter? Lions kicked a field goal, punted, scored a TD and ran out of time (20 seconds). For me, there was enough time to recover from that mistake for any normal team that isn't into Russian Roulette.

They could have overcome a 14 point swing, but they shouldn't have had to.

They did recover. They just gave up a game winning score at the end that really was not a score. Both knees were down before he was pushed into the endzone.

It took several bad calls by the refs to allow possibly the best team in the league to beat the Lions. That should be the only complaint.

He went from being a "hero" to zero!!

When have you not known Stafford playing Russian Roulette with his 4th quarter heroics? It's odd that the Lions almost always move the ball "at will" in the 4th quarter for one of two outcomes... victory or shooting themselves in the foot. Unless they're down down by 21 points.

I thought he was down too.

The Dictators did give Stafford another shot with 2 seconds for a comeback win. They could've have said game over instead of clear the field.

This feels different than prior years when they've challenged. I almost hate to put it in writing. I had few expectations going in and they don't have enough talent to win it all. But this team just looks better.. solid. They should be 4-0, there is nothing fluky about the way they're playing and the schedule has not been easy so far.

I think we will find out what they are all about next Monday at GB. They are relatively healthy and have had 2 weeks to prepare for them. No more giving this team excuses because "THE REFS".... Blah blah, the refs never made the Lions keep fumbling against the Chiefs.

Glasgow, Reeves-Maybin land on PFF Team of the Week in Week 4

Detroit Lions guard Graham Glasgow and linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin land on Pro Football Focus’ Team of the Week for their performances in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

This is Glasgow’s second time on PFF’s TOTW through the first four weeks of the season — previously making the team after a stellar Week 2 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“The Lions came dangerously close to pulling the upset over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, and right guard Graham Glasgow had another huge performance in the process,” PFF’s Gordon McGuinness said. “He produced an 88.0 PFF run-blocking grade in the game, the second time in four games that he has produced a run-blocking grade at 88.0 or higher.”

The run blocking by Ragnow and Glasgow needs to continue if this team expects to be competitive each and every week. Tonight is a must against GB.

Glasgow, Reeves-Maybin land on PFF Team of the Week in Week 4

After the first quarter of the regular season, Glasgow currently grades out at PFF’s No. 3 guard in the league and is the No.1 guard with regards to run blocking.

Fun Fact: Frank Ragnow, who made the PFF team with Glasgow in Week 2, is PFF’s No. 2 center in the NFL and No. 1 center with regards to run blocking. The duo makes a formidable pairing and create a lot of openings in the right side A-gap.

This is Reeves-Maybin’s first appearance on a PFF award team this year, earning this week’s nod for his contributions on special teams.

Notes: PFF’s highest graded Detroit Lions through 4 games

When your top two graded players on defense are the two players you committed the most money to in free agency this offseason, that has to feel good. It’s no surprise that Justin Coleman is on top—and is the third-highest rated corner in the league—after he’s strung together some fantastic performances against good pass offenses.

Lions sending 3-man rushes more than any other team

Ask any NFL fan what their least favorite defensive call is and you’ll likely hear one of two responses: prevent defense or a three-man rush. Oftentimes, those terms are interchangeable, but regardless, people hate it when their defense fails to send pass rushers.

But for the Detroit Lions, the three-man pass rush has been an essential part of their defense this year. According to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, no team has run more three-man rush plays than the Lions, and it’s not particularly close.

“The Lions use three-man rushes more than any other NFL team, a total of 55 dropbacks this season, more than twice the next-highest team,” Seifert wrote on Monday.

Of course, with the Lions’ talented secondary, they can afford to utilize that strategy more often. The Lions like to put six defensive backs on the field, and the results speak for themselves. They currently rank eighth in pass defense DVOA, sixth in passer rating allowed (80.3) and are allowing just 55.4 percent of passes to be completed (second best).

^^^^

So much for all that pre-season noise on how Bevell wasn't going to throw deep all that much and would rely more so upon on the 11 and 12 sets predominately to stoke the run game.
