Game Thread: G59 23-21-14 Kings vs Flames 2/18/26

Game day, 4pm start on FDS. Not sure why the early start time with Calgary being the opponent but OK. Nice outside so going to wash the Harley and hopefully have it done in time to watch 1.5 periods before carting Junior II around.

Lots of moving parts tonight with injuries. Kuzmenko underwent surgery yesterday for a torn meniscus and is week to week, I think Perry had the same injury on his knee and missed about 5 weeks before he made his Kings debut. With the season on the line and the POs starting April 18, his season is effectively over and I don't think we see him in LA next season considering how his season went and on an expiring deal.

Doughty suffered an LBI and Armia a UBI against Edmonton so I am not expecting them to play tonight. Of course Fiala is out so the Kings have a lot of injuries and they came at a tough time but even with all those guys the POs are slipping away. I'm expecting Moverare and Helenius back in the lineup tonight in their absence.

As I said though, it's WC2 by luck or no POs at all and I'm leaning more and more towards no POs. This team just isn't good.

There was no skate this morning so no confirmation but Forsberg expected to start. Both goalies looked like dog shit Thursday but Forsberg has looked better coming out of the break. Kuemper looked like ass Thursday and Forsberg was just left out to dry for the most part. I think the two injuries to Kuemper during the season where he missed time along with not playing much at all in the Olympics has really affected him, I don't see him returning to previous levels of play from this season any time soon. I'd seriously consider moving him this summer.

The Flames have won two in a row and are bottom dwellers as well. They beat SJ on Thursday 4-1 with Kadri scoring twice. I'm sure Holly will be watching this game because apparently he is on the Kings radar although I wouldn't go after him because of his age (35) but more so his contract which has three more years left on it. I still believe how these next two games go will determine what Holly does but my stance is stay put - this team is not worth saving no matter who you get.

Nothing brewing on the Hiller front although his hot seat is now - or should be - engulfed in flames after the last two debacles. I think the results of these next two games also affects his job status, you just cannot sit there as management and watch the wheels fall off because of this guy. Teh Blog saying the team has not quit on him, yes they have.

Battle of two crappy teams tonight. Magic 8 Ball says: You Can Count on It. Which essentially means they'll lose because this thing has been brutal.

This has to be one of the most dullest games ever. One of the worst teams in the league yet you're either playing even or at times behind?

Pathetic. Thought the whole mantra after the last two fiascos was more pride and effort.

The 4pm start time was weird, threw me off. But I guess this was a HNIC game so they wanted it to be a 6pm start in Canada.

I still don't care that they won, even missing four regulars (Doughty, Armia, Fiala, Kuzmenko). Vegas absolutely dominated LA missing five, the Kings played pretty evenly with Calgary missing four. Calgary is one of the worst teams in the league and the Kings had to scratch and claw to win it? Come on.

I'm absolutely pulling for every team ahead of LA to keep winning and for LA to lose, it's the only way this ownership eam will understand the Kings are not contenders, fire management like Robotile and maybe let Holly retool instead of rebuild. This team needs to be torn down.

It's games like this that keeps giving management false hope and illusion that this team is good enough to win a Cup.
