Game Thread: G45 25-14-5 Kings vs Panthers 1/22/25

Game day, 7pm start on TNT. One of those wonderful national games I love, the Kings seem to embarrass themselves more than anything. Please do not do that tonight. Kings are on a mini skid and it doesn't get better facing the defending SC champs.

Interesting developments, Doughty in full contact but won't play and Thomas set to check in. Looking like the standard 12/6 which I think is long overdue, guys have been sitting out for a while and the regulars seem gassed. The 11/7 is not sustainable all season long.

Kuemper in net, Bobrovsky played last night in Anaheim (5-2 win) so I'm curious if he will go B2B. You'd think they'd save him for the better matchup but being EC and not really mattering it makes sense. They wanted the win, they got one.

Kings have been completely done offensively the last several games and I don't see that changing tonight. Too many guys in extended droughts. Hoping I'm wrong but damn, apart from Kempe the offense has completely dried up. The Kings desperately need guys like TOTM, Buster, Dunno and even Fiala to a degree to step up.

Florida's top line of Reinhart/Barkov/Tkachuk will be a handful, good size and speed all over. If Tkachuk does Tkachuk stuff I expect a response.

Kings changing D pairs with Edmunson and Spence and Moverare and Clarke. Clearly this is to generate offense, the Kings have gone dark the last little while. I hope they are targeting a scoring winger at the TDL.

Prediction: Panthers 4-1 and the struggles continue. Kings goal by Helenius.

Going to say the Kings stole this one, about damn time. I don't think they were out played but I don't think they out played Florida either. Take the 2 points and run, your classic opportunistic win.
