Don't be a jabroni.
Game day, 730pm start on FDS. Will be able to watch this in full, easy peasy grilled cheese and soups for dinner tonight. Been feeling like fall which is nice but the time change seems to be tiring me out. Somehow I felt exhausted by 930 last night, just have to get used to it.
As stated in the Season Thread, lot of changes in the lineup. Kuemper expected to start as Forsberg stayed on the ice for more work today. They will roll with:
40/11/9
22/55/14
96/24/12
39/15/10
44/8
6/92
2/5
Perry will also be on PP1 replacing Kuzmenko, and Kuzmenko has been moved to PP2 with Dunno and Laferriere. Jill's reasoning was classic deflection, "we didn't get Kuzmenko the puck enough on PP1". More like he hasn't been that good at ES or PP so a change was needed. This friggin guy just can't give a straight answer.
Clearly that D3 pairing has everyone nervous, they looked like complete ass to start the season which prompted Jill to split them up. His reasoning now for putting them back together is twofold, a) to get Anderson his minutes back after switching with Dummy and b) both Dummy and Peepee were new and after horrendous showings he split them up with players who have been here a while.
He now feels they can be put back together as they are more acclimated to a new team, system and teammates. Personally I am expecting disaster but that's just me.
The Jets are coming in on a three game winning streak. 1C Scheifele leads the NHL with 20 points - meanwhile Kopitar, Buster, Dunno and Glass Boy have 2 goals...combined. Brutal.
The Legend has been on fire, 9 points (5G/4A) in his last 5 games. Iafallo is their 2RW, Pearson is 3LW and Colin Miller is part of their D3. Lots of ex Kings there (Miller never played for LA but was drafted by them- he has a cannon for a shot). So basically expect The Legend to have a field day, Iafallo to score, Pearson to scoreansd Miller to assist because that's what the Kings allow. Hellebuyck to start, the Jets are the second best team in the league behind Colorado at 9-3 and look it.
Big area to watch is special teams, the Jets PP ranks 8th and PK ranks 5th while LA PP ranks 25th and PK 24th. Those are some stark contrasts, so put me on repeat: don't take penalties. If they can draw a PP that won't be easy either especially if the Kings just play hot potato around the edges like they always do or telegraph passes like they always do. Hoping Perry can be a difference, the 5F PP will have a different look tonight because I'm expecting him to go straight into Hellebuyck's grill so the left half wall shot will not be there as the other four guys are all LH shots.
I keep reading analytics but again, the eye test. The Kings absolutely need to start converting chances and getting into high percentage areas (front of the net, slot area) instead of this analytics stat padding nonsense from the perimeter. Looking at you Buster, no reason you shouldn't be parking yourself in front of Hellebuyck.
The Kings are one of two teams (NYR) without a home win. Took them forever to get a regulation win but tonight won't be the night for a home win. Winnipeg is just in another class although the Kings played them hard last time.
Prediction: Jets thump LA 5-2. Kings goals by Dunno finally and Armia getting a look at LW1. Glass Boy and Buster zoom around like cats looking busy but not really doing anything. But "he's arrived" and "he is so great" continue.
Let's Go Kings!
