Don't be a jabroni.
Game day, 730pm on FDS. Probably won't be able to watch this one, Junior IIs 15th birthday today and we are going out to dinner to celebrate. Dude picked Wood Ranch, could you have picked more mediocre BBQ son? Maybe I'm just still annoyed at my overpriced crap experience at Dan Tana's from 2 weeks ago. But he's the birthday boy so Wood Ranch it is.
Nothing major to report on the Kings, expect the same line up. Kuemper off the ice first today so he's expected to start. Dexter is still out, scratches will be Helenius and Moverare.
The big thing today is this is McLennan's return to LA after being fired in February 2024, I for sure thought he had already been back to Staples but nope, first time back. I hope he gets a good round of applause, he did a good job here overall but isn't a coach who can take a team over the hump.
He's in a similar situation in Detroit as when he first came to LA, a lot of young players. He's perfect for teams like that, developing structure, defensive awareness. It's the winning a championship thing he hasn't been able to accomplish yet.
Detroit is 7-3 which is impressive. They've missed the POs the last 9 years but it seems the Yzerplan may be coming around. They lost their season opener but then ripped off five straight wins. They made the trade for Gibson this summer but Talbot is expected to start, makes sense against his former team.
Kane is injured and out, their top line is Larkin/Raymond/Finnie. Finnie is a good story, 7th round pick. Good at both ends of the ice, pays attention to detail. Larkin is always a threat and they have Debrincat on L2 who can score but has been a little snake bit so far but has had a bunch of chances so one to keep an eye on. Seider and Edvisson are their D1 pair, both big guys with range and some physicality and offensive ability.
The Kings need to stay out of the box, and after whatever it was we witnessed against SJ need a full 60 from beginning to end. Really fortunate to get two points out of that game, 9/10 times you lose a game played like that. Don't push your luck and just come out with a good start and effort.
Prediction: Kings 4-2, goals by Kempe, Fiala, Buster and Dummy. Perry annoys TF out of Talbot by living in his crease, Seider blows up Glass Boy.
Let's Go Kings!
