Holier Than Thou
Lol a player who was very good for a long time rarely makes the hall, although if there is an exception to be found this could be it.
The first thing I'd point out is that the story of the nfl can very easily be written without mentioning him except as a member of one team that went to and lost a SB once. Apart from two or three years every single team he played for sucked.
But more importantly you look at Gore's career achievements and you see that he was All-Pro only once and it was second team just because they couldn't find anyone else. He was a Pro Bowler a number of times but no one ever, even once, thought of him as a top three or so RB in the league during his career and he was never the level of great that you expect to see in the Hall.
Now that is sort of a shame because Gore had a very long, productive career and is easy to root for (could have been nice if he had gone somewhere other than that shithole Indianapolis that actually had a chance to get a ring), but he was not special. He truly wasn't.
I don't rule him out getting into the hall because when he retires he will have a huge amount of numbers, but those numbers will solely have been a result of his playing time and not because he was elite. He wasn't. He was just very good for a very long time.
