5th all time leading rusher in NFL history with 14,026. If he signs with someone and repeats last seasons numbers, he will finish the year passing curtis martin, and could possibly pass 15,000 yards, or # 4 all time behind barry sanders.
Of the top 16 rushers in NFL history, only 3 arent in canton: Edgerrin james (13th), adrian peterson (12th), and frank gore.

94 career TD's (77 rushing, 17 receiving)

443 catches, 3364 yards

17,698 yards from scrimmage. 7th all time.

I believe he is a definite hall of famer. I don't know if he's in the first time, but he's definitely a hall of famer. It really depends on who is in his voting class with him.

Definitely for me

In this brittle bitch era, the guy never misses a game

And he's a ferocious blocker, another lost art for RBs
didnt he shred his knees too at one point? maybe at miami?

Borderline for me and I love the guy. Maybe it’s because he's a low key, just get the work done kind of guy, but he doesn’t really “feel” like a HOFer even though his numbers are great.

he probably makes it, but he is the definition of a compiler(in a negative way)... He barely ever is a top 10 RB...

With that said, he is known to be one of the best blocking running backs of all time, so even when your stats are not exactly HOF worthy, he does have the intangibles...

Grinder...Those guys lack the flashiness that you usually associate with the HOF

I cant remember the last Frank Gore 60 yard explosion play

This is true, you almost have to ignore what he's become the last 5 years

Only 2006 did he get over 1500 rushing yards
He had over 1500 scrimmage yards three times, and over 2000 once
He had 10 or more TDs only once in his career(2009)

that doesn't scream HOF... but longevity does...

My initial reaction was to say "No", but Jerome Bettis is in the HOF with similar stats. Gore's biggest problem is going to be that he's only got one truly great season, and even that was fifth-best for yards from scrimmage. He was never closer than that to leading the league in anything.

Running backs who started playing post-AFL (1960) in the HOF with worse yards/game rushing than Gore:
Bettis (probably Gore's strongest analogue, if Bettis can get in Gore has a shot, but Bettis has multiple seasons inside the top 5 in rushing yards and yards from scrimmage)
Franco Harris (once led the league in scoring, was twice in the top 5 in rushing, Gore was never higher than 6th in rushing)
Marshall Faulk (multiple seasons leading the league in yards from scrimmage)
Thurman Thomas (same as Faulk)
John Riggins (led the NFL in rushing TDs twice, his '83 season is the fifth-most rushing TDs by a single player in NFL history, sixth most in rushing and receiving combined)
Larry Csonka (never led the league in anything, but was anywhere from 3rd to 5th in rushing from 1970 - 1973, and he's a goddamn fullback)
Marcus Allen (led the league in rushing in 1985 with the 25th most yards and 8th most yards from scrimmage in NFL history, led the league in rushing and all-purpose TDs in two seasons each)
Floyd Little (has a rushing title, a yards from scrimmage title, and a rushing TD title on his resume)
Leroy Kelly (has two rushing titles, two yards from scrimmage titles, and three rushing TD titles)

So, right now, only Larry Csonka and Jerome Bettis averaged less than 72 yards per game rushing and got into the HOF without leading the NFL in anything meaningful for an RB. And Bettis and Csonka have stronger individual resumes, IMO. I'm still leaning towards "No".

Damn, he must have come into the league as a huge red flag injury concern guy

And in 13 years, he's missed like 8 or 9 games according to Football Reference
its why he fell to the 3rd round. he averaged 9 yards a carry as a freshman. 5.7 career.

Based on whatever the standards are for the HOF, he most definitely should be in. His greatest attribute has been longevity...which does speak for something obviously, but at no time did I ever think he could be even considered as the best back in the league. He was good for 1200 yards a season....again...nothing eye-popping.

I'd say no.

How many times do we have to have these discussions? The voters don't give a shit about what "feels" like a HOFer or the usual "Hall of Very Good" debate.

If they have the stats then its almost always a shoe-in. 1 more season and he's virtually a lock.

No matter how many people will hate Eli getting in, he most likely will.

Agreed, and as a die hard Giants fan, I dont see him as a HOFer, but no doubt he will be there, rings and stats, i think he's a shoe in
