Konrad Reuland, who had two brief stints as a tight end with the Indianapolis Colts in 2014 and this past off-season, died Tuesday. He was 29.

Reuland was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm in November and underwent brain surgery on Nov. 29, according to Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

Reuland, a big target at 6 foot 5, 254 pounds, began his collegiate career at Notre Dame in 2006-07 before transferring to Stanford, where he was a two-year letterman in 2009 and 2010. A teammate of Colts’ quarterback Andrew Luck, Reuland caught 27 passes for 351 yards and a touchdown in his two seasons with the Cardinal.

Reuland — a Springfield, Ohio, native who didn’t even play football until his sophomore year of high school — was signed in July 2011 by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent, and spent parts of the next five years with the 49ers, New York Jets, Colts and Ravens organizations.
