David Boston faces battery charge after alleged assault of women | ProFootballTalk

Former Cardinals receiver David Boston is just about the least surprising former player to show up back in the news after an arrest.

ABC 25 in West Palm Beach cites a police report that Boston was charged with aggravated battery on Wednesday. Boston allegedly punched a woman twice in the head, leaving a gash that required 10 stitches.

One woman who lived with Boston (but was not the one beaten) said she witnessed Boston drink a bottle of vodka, a bottle of wine, and take some pills on Wednesday. Boston was supposedly set to move out into a nearby hotel.

Ha ha, the first comment I read.

So tired of hearing these stories about D-bags who think playing football and having money makes them exempt from the laws of this country and of human decency. Don’t know the facts of this story, but it goes without saying that there is never an acceptable reason to hit a woman (unless she’s wielding a weapon and it’s self defense maybe). Real men keep their heads and don’t raise their fists in violence.

Really?? You think he lost his mind and beat up the woman because he was in the NFL, has money, and felt that he was above the law?? Call me crazy, but after a bottle of Vodka and a bottle of wine... everyone will eventually go through that angry/violent stage of being drunk and lose whatever common sense they may have had left.

Obviously the dude has some serious emotional issues if he is drinking a bottle of vodka and a bottle of wine... so don't take my post as a, blame it on the alcohol post... I was just laughing that someone thinks he did this because he feels entitled as a former pro athlete, instead of simply being an angry drunk. How does that comment get 46 likes??

He had a foot injury that cost him his career.....It's no excuse to drink or pop pills but it may have something to do with the way that he is acting

Because it's the only explanation that can exclude themselves from equal blame had they done it. If we all had said it was because he was drunk, then people, regardless of the problems or drinking, scapegoat the alcohol. And for some reason people feel then they can't spill to vitriol on the person. Which I think is bunk. Surely you can blame the drinker for drinking.

I worked at the prosecutor's office over the summer and someone was blaming the alcohol for his impairment and I'm thinking, well, duh. Without the alcohol, of course he wouldn't be drunk (high is another thing). I was thinking, good thing he refused representation. Instead he should have said the alcohol was the cause of driving, except that's not entirely true either. You don't drive to the bar and remain there forever. You intend on eventually driving away and everyone does it the same night. The decision to go there with no alternative modes of getting back safely and the decision to drink caused the DUI. I felt more empathy for those leaving their house drunk than a bar, but still I put full blame on the guy deciding to get drunk.

Anyway, this wasn't meant to get into a morals rant. I would blame him for getting drunk because it isn't a surprise that a drunk would hit a woman. And then I'd blame him for hitting the woman, because why not? Who else is there to blame? (I don't blame inanimate objects when the person voluntarily utilizes it) Like a designated driver, maybe he should have a designated sober friend that can stop an NFL player? Just kidding.

or it could be roid rage. but then again he has a history of doing stupid stuff, maybe he is just a natural douche bag. He was acting up before his career ended.
