The last time I heard his voice he was doing play by play for a GVSU championship football game (Division III? Maybe?). I'd love for him to get back in the rink.

I'm pretty sure he still does hockey on ESPN, so he might do next weekend's Frozen Four games.

Gary Thorne and Bill Clement were the best part of the NHL on ESPN...

Heres a nice clip, hes been the best part of Orioles broadcasts the last few years:

Baseball Video Highlights & Clips | Must C Clutch: Markakis makes a game-saving catch - Video | MLB.com: Multimedia

Orioles ahead 3-1 with two on and two outs in the ninth.

That was awesome. I love the free preview of MLB Extra Innings. Especially when the Orioles are worth watching.

What I like about Thorne is he has respect for the superstitions of whatever he's covering. In Today's game they threw up a graphic about the last time the O's went 4-0 and 5-0 to open a season. He read the 4-0 like a good little champ (1997, when they lost in the ALCS) and then he started with "The last time the O's went 5-0 to start was 1970 when.... Oh." And then he changed the subject.

He simply refused to read "Won the world series.".

I love him.
