He signed an extension with the Niners. It’s a two-year, $10.5 million fully guaranteed contract, which includes an option clause that can turn it into a four-year, $19 million deal with $15 million guaranteed. So that's that.

Yeah, there was a part of me holding out SLIGHT hope. However, we all knew it was a long shot. The only encouraging part seemed to be that Robbie was sort of lobbying for a trade, wanting to be "closer to family", etc.

I was about the same - never really thinking we had a realistic shot at his return, but still holding out that ever-so-slight hope that it could happen. Oh well.

Robbie would have been sweet for a few more years...but he wasn't a free agent so that's that. Pineiro is as good as a young "could be the long-term solution at kicker" option as we're ever going to find. F*cking guy can boot the sh*t out of the ball. He could be our Janikowski. Stick with him.

Agreed. I'm thinking it's now his job to lose.

Of course we could trade for him. Piniero plus a fifth?

That's what I read. I'm surprised that he took the bite so early.
