Saturday recap (Part 1: The major conferences)

With the ACC and Big 12 picking up the slack, here's what happened yesterday:

ACC: I just found out that Notre Dame is planning to go through the entire ACC to win a national title this year. Considering how good Clemson's defense looked last night, that plan might just work.
But the more things change, the most they stay the same.
Georgia Tech vs. Florida State - Game Summary - September 12, 2020 - ESPN Just ask Florida State, as they're answering a very familiar question now: What WAS this?!

Big 12: So... Oklahoma almost had to cancel their dress rehearsal, Texas Tech needed all 60 minutes to beat Houston Baptist, Kansas lost to Coastal Carolina again, and Kansas State blew it against Arkansas State.
Louisiana vs. Iowa State - Game Summary - September 12, 2020 - ESPN Combine that with this stunning result, and it was REALLY not a good day for the Big 12.

Week 3 recap (Part 1: The Top 25)

In Week 3, we saw Oklahoma State basically phone it in against Tulsa, UCF still being awesome, and Miami being so happy that they got D'Eriq King to abandon Houston to go play for them.

But the biggest story came from the Sun Belt. How is it that a seasoned team like App. State can falter against Marshall on the CBS tv network...

Week 4 Recap (Part 1 [Texas survives])

I think yesterday's action was God's way of telling me "Get off your @$$ and get back to work; the season's now on for real". I guess he has a point.
Yesterday, we saw Louisiana-Lafayette pull off another great escape in the Sun Belt conference thanks to a 50+ yard field goal...

Week 4 recap (Part 2- The SEC)

Also yesterday, the Southeastern Conference joined us with their conference openers. Auburn won against ranked Kentucky, and Tennessee won a wild fight against South Carolina in front of a surprisingly good crowd in Columbia.

And the one thing I just noticed is that both Ole Miss and Miss. State have new coaches; Ole Miss has Lane Kiffin, while Miss. State wooed away Mike Leach from Washington State. It should be fun to see these two face off in the Egg Bowl later on in the year, in what will be Round 1 of their head-to-head showdown.

Mississippi State vs. LSU - Game Summary - September 26, 2020 - ESPN Oops! Never mind, Mike Leach wins Round 1 as his Bulldogs completely stuns LSU AT LSU. Maybe the "Egg Bowl" will be Round 2...

In the Top 25, we saw Texas A&M only beating Vandy by 5, Cincinnati shaking off an early fumble to win against Army, Pitt defeating Louisville, and Virginia Tech shaking off a LOT of absentees to beat NC State. There was also Miami blowing out Florida State for the first time in forever.
Kansas State vs. Oklahoma - Game Summary - September 26, 2020 - ESPN Oh! And I can't forget about this one, where Kansas State bucked a surprising amount of trends for Top-5 teams by rallying to humiliate Oklahoma again.

Now for everybody else:
Well, UTSA is now 3-0, Liberty wins a thriller over FIU, and Iowa State defeats TCU despite giving up one of the worst turnovers in FBS history.
And finally, UTEP won a game on the road. Does anybody know the last time THAT happened?

So Texas is down by 4 to TCU with just over 4 minutes left? No big deal; they drove ALL the way to the 1 yard line, and then... fumbled the ball away?! And then TCU gives up a safety on the very last play to annoy the Longhorns? What a terrible way to lose!

Arkansas vs. Mississippi State

Also yesterday, Iowa State got it's first home win over Oklahoma since 1960. Does anybody remember the last time Oklahoma started conference play at 0-2?
Well, at least K.J. Costello (the former Stanford QB) kept things moving by beating Arka-

Week 5 recap (Part 3- Everyone else)

So what else happened yesterday? Well...

In other Top 25 action, Georgia's defense looked strong as hell as it battered Auburn, SMU won at home in a NOT-upset win over Memphis, North Carolina holds off Boston College, and Pitt loses by just 1 point against NC State.

As for everyone else...
West Virginia defeats Baylor in 2 overtimes, Ole Miss wins in OT against Kentucky, Virginia Tech wins a wild one against Duke, and Kansas State defeats Texas Tech despite losing their starting QB.
Elsewhere, Coastal Carolina and Liberty are 3-0.

Week 6 Recap (Part 1- Mid-majors and ACC)

Not much happened in the "Group of Five" this week. Oh, BYU won a close one over UTSA, East Carolina and Navy won in the AAC, and Liberty is now 4-0... but that's it.
So instead, let's start with the ACC.

Well, Boston College won by 1 against Pitt in OT, Louisville fell to 1-3, Clemson just SMASHED Miami...

Virginia Tech vs. North Carolina - Game Summary - October 10, 2020 - ESPN ...and North Carolina won this really fun game over Va-Tech.

P.S: Guess the Vegas sharks knew what they were doing when they made Duke a road favorite. S--t...
