Flyers Turned Down Keith Yandle for JVR

General manager Paul Holmgren turned down a trade that would've sent van Riemsdyk to the Phoenix Coyotes for defenseman Keith Yandle a few hours before pulling the trigger on Schenn-JVR, according to CSN Philly's Tim Panaccio. Discussions between the two teams were reported at the time, but this is the first time we've seen it in such uncertain terms: the Flyers could've had Yandle, and said no thanks.

If this is in fact true, that's a HUGE error in judgement by Homer. Yandle is far more valuable than Schenn ever will be, in my opinion.

He is, guess they wanted to have the brothers together, but Luke was vastly overrated by many Leaf fans.

I'm wondering if the uncertainty of what the cap would be lended to this decision, if the offer was even on the table. If everyone remembers it was always rumored to be JVR+ for Yandle. These hindsight type articles rarely cover what was actually said at the time.

All i had to do was consider the source and timing of the story a laughed that anyone would think its a factual story.
