The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired forward Kris Newbury from the New York Rangers in exchange for defenceman Danny Syvret.
Last season Newbury split time between the Rangerrs and their American Hockey League affiliate the Connecticut Whale.
In six NHL games this season, Newbury had one assist and nine minutes in penalties. He also appeared in 70 AHL games, contributing 20 goals and 42 assists as well as 127 penalty minutes.
The Brampton, Ontario native was selected 139th overall, in the fifth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Syvret spent the entire 2012/13 season in the AHL with the Adirondack Phantoms, in 76 games he had six goals and 34 points.
The Millgrove, Ontario native has appeared with the Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers and Anaheim Ducks since making his debut during the 2005/06 season.
He was drafted by the Oilers in the third round, 81st overall of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
31 years old with 72 NHL games to his credit.
