Was about to start a thread saying "Let the Cuts Begin", but Seattle moved faster than I thought they would. Despite what we've been thinking, Seattle's cap has been a disaster in recent weeks. Before these cuts, the Seahawks were an estimated $10 million over the cap without including Iupati, Irvin, Willson or McKenzie to the cap numbers. On top of that, we were 2 players over the offseason limit on players, so 2 had to be released.

I figure Seattle has spent $196,559,637.90 out of a cap of $199,638,096.00. This is for all 80 contracts - except the 4 whose details are still unknown. More cuts will most likely have to happen to make room for those 4 players.

I think everyone said that at least once in the past 6 months all because of his salary, it was quite bloated.

I hope he was being facetious

lol wow

MANY people said he would be cut because of his salary even the talking heads said it constantly, you can find Hundreds if not THOUSANDS of articles talking about how Britt would be cut. it would have been a bigger surprise had Britt stayed with the time under his current salary.

It really is to bad if Britt is cut though as no one on this team right now is even anywhere close to as good as he is at center. Not saying all that much but it is what it is. Britts Play is not the reason he would be cut because if that was the case Hunt would have been cut halfway through the 2019 season he was so bad.

please find it because i have even put in different threads the cost of savings for players that could be cut. Britt was #1 and i only made that post because others were talking about how could be cut to save us money and most of them were talking Britt also.

MrSnuggles i have NO DOUBTS you said it, None whatsoever but this was not a unpopular opinion on this board. I was actually one of those that said it would be stupid to just cut Britt but i also agreed he was being paid to much. But again Britt being cut was a very popular opinion on this Forum.

If i was the Front Office i would bring him in to rework his contract, let him know they want to keep him but need some finacle relief. I believe Britt would work with them. So maybe he doesn't instantly save them 8.5 million but maybe he saves them say 5 or 6 million with a reworked contract. Thats what i would do.

Just a heads up Fluker is also released. Kind of makes this thread void doesn't it?

"Britt's release marks the second major move along the offensive line made by the Seahawks after the draft, as guard D.J. Fluker announced earlier on Sunday that he had been released by the team."

That was in an SI article posted 58 minutes ago.

I thought it was a consensus view that Britt was a likely cap casualty especially if we were to bring back Clowney? He would have been the 3rd highest paid center in the league this year and he is mostly certainly nowhere close to the 3rd best center in football.

That's just a quick runthrough from the first page of threads. It also doesn't include any post that didn't mention Britt by name, or anyone who agreed with said posts and thus didn't post themselves. The idea Seattle would/could/should and any other ould out there, cut Britt has been a popular opinion since he got hurt.

BTW, your conversation you were pointing to was in the Clowney thread

Go check the 1st and second page of the clowney thread, you and others got up in arms when i said britt wasnt that good.

Saying he COULD be cut due to salary was obvious, but you didnt want him cut.

But then this is the same board that defended bevell like a bunch of simps for years and were upset when he finally and deservedly got fired.

and? i didn't want him cut and stated that in THIS THREAD lol but i also said he most likely would be cut lol. I was also saying if he gets cut that Hunt can not be the starting center he is worse than Britt and it's not even close. Then they signed Finney and i think we ALL knew then it was over. this was about your " Looks like i was right about britt getting cut. " post nothing else like you were the only one that saw it when i can't think of a single poster on this board that didn't bring it up at least once. this tickles me.

it's like looking at a poll seeing that 90% chose answer A and you go! "I will go out on a limb here and go A" lol it's just funny is all.

I’m going to make a prediction, we are gonna either sign Griffen or trade for pass rush. We are out on Clowney, calling it now.

either way, we are about to get better on the d-line.
