As the Flames continue their search for a new GM, trade winds are blowing in Calgary and roster moves could be a regular thing in the New Year.
Flames President of Hockey Operations Brian Burke is leading the charge towards hiring a new General Manager, but he can also make moves until a new man is found, the Calgary Sun reported over the weekend.

With several players set to become unrestricted free agents next summer, the Flames' new GM will have his hands full leading up to the trade deadline in March.

"You can't think about it," Flames center Matt Stajan told the Sun. "The sport we play and the business we're in, things happen that are beyond our control. The only thing we can control is coming to the rink and playing. If something's going to happen, it's going to happen no matter when, so as players we come to the rink, be a good teammate and play hard.
"My mindset's never changed and during a roster freeze, it doesn't change. You have to ignore the stuff going on outside."
Stajan has a modified no-trade clause, but is among the players in the final year of their contracts. He is a candidate to be traded this season.
Forwards Michael Cammalleri, Lee Stemniak and Blair Jones could also be moved, along with defensemen Chris Butler, Derek Smith and Kris Russell, and goalie Reto Berra.
According to the Sun, the Flames are interested in re-signing Russell and Berra.
Cammalleri, 31, has a limited no-trade clause and can list up to seven teams he will not accept a deal to. He was almost moved in the off-season, and is likely to be traded before the March 5 deadline.
Like Stajan, most players aren't focused on the trade whispers. "I don't really think about it," Stempniak told the paper. "Things like that tend to take care of itself. I just come to the rink each day and play well. Trades or moves happen regardless of whether you want it to happen or not happen, so a lot of it is going along and not thinking about it -- let things beyond your control take care of themselves."

Could see guys like Cammy and Stajan moved, maybe even Stempniak.
