One the one hand it cant make the run game any worse. On the other hand, we now have a 2nd round pick playing H-back.

That's their solution to Hewitt's injury? Play a backup tackle at HBack? Only the Bengals. Anybody else would simply sign another fullback. Nobody is as innovative as the Brown family.

I would just go with a single back or use both Bernard and Hill in the backfield together.

they need to at least have a FB college free agent at their next offseason camp.

Hue had Marcel Reece at Oakland so don't give me this scheme crap.

Their excuse will probably be that they dont have the salary cap space to pay a college fullback for one game, except their excuse for not spending all the way to the cap is they have to save some in case of injuries.
It really is the twilight zone

I think it has more to do with the roster numbers game. You would have to cut someone from the 53 man roster if you want to add a FB and lose depth at another position in the process. How many plays a game is a street FA FB/H back going to be on the field? It's probably not worth the roster move. Fisher can be a backup lineman and a situational H back on the game day 46 active list

Hewitt is obviously hurt enough that he will be out more than this week, or they wouldn't be doing this "experiment" so they can easily ir him, thus creating a roster space.

I don't know his injury status, but if it does keep him out at least a few weeks it might be worth signing someone.Even then you'd have to have a FB off the street learn the playbook and take a spot on the 46 man active list on gameday. I dont have too much of an issue with Fisher taking his spot for now

Hewitt is likely back for the playoffs if they aren't IRing him..... I'm glad he changed his number - I'm tired of the refs fucking up on the illegal formation calls.

Ever since we spent our top 2 picks on lineman that play tight end, we haven't used Peko for offense.

Worked out well. Best running day Hill has had.

The only issue I have with the H-back, and even with Hewit is that too often when they are in there, it signals a run 90% of the time. Need to switch it up a bit more to keep defenses honest, but there's no denying Hill does better in a 2-back set with a full-back to follow.

To be fair, I think Hue started to recognize that this year and Hewitt had a couple of catches where he was wide open. I'd like to see that more often.

That said, I think we've tried to throw it to Fisher about 6 times this year and it only worked the first time we did it. If we could stop pretending that the guy can be a receiver, that would be fine with me.
