So the first half is officially in the books.
Who are the Giants' first half award winners?
MVP
1) Posey - Surprise, surprise.
2) Crawford - Gold Glove Defense and the best hitting SS in the NL (all of MLB?)
3) Panik - Completely solidifies the 2B job, and may already be the best in the NL.
Aoki, Duffy and Pence all could have easily made that list. Pence has hardly played, but he has been a HUGE difference maker in the games he has played in.
ROY
1) Heston - he is putting up solid #2 numbers, and OMG did this team need that!
2) Duffy - Pablo who? Duffy has been, quite simply, amazing. His defense seems to be getting better by the game and he has locked down the #3 spot in the order.
Osich, Strickland and Susac have all done great as well, but I can't really rate one over the other. They are all clearly MLB players and SHOULDNT ever have to go back down. How the roster shell game plays out the rest of the season will be very interesting.
Pitcher of the Year
1) Bum - his numbers are not that dominating THIS SEASON, but he is the Ace of this staff, hands down.
2) Heston - getting a #2 out of nowhere. Amazing.
3) Kontos - he has become that 7th inning closer that baseball fans have been screaming for since the Save became a "big" stat. He probably could close for this team, but I think he is in a more important role right now.
