So assuming our bully will consist of:

Heston
Romo
Cya
LOOGY
Strickland
Osich
Kontos

Which minor league RP do you think gets called up first in 2016?

Black or Blackburn if a righty is needed.

Mejia or Okert if a lefty is needed.

Cal, do we take a starter like Blackburn Mejia and throw him in the pen? That seems somewhat counterproductive from a developmental standpoint...

I think that is actually more traditional. Give them a taste of the bigs without all the pressure of a start.

Our starting roster is SOOOO deep, that is not the place to get your break this year. Heston will get the first opportunity followed by Blackburn and either Blach or Mejia (maybe Stratton or Beede).

Part of my reasoning was that most starters in the minors have been starters most, if not all, of their careers. It would seem counterproductive to start their ML careers in the pen with a different pre-game warm up routine, different in-game warm up routine, unpredictability of usage, etc. for a guy that probably hasn't done it.

OTOH, I totally get your reasoning for why you would want a guy to get his feet wet by taking bite size chunks.

Ultimately, it all depends on need. If they need a starter (and Heston is not available for whatever reason), they will go with Blackburn first, then either Blach or Mejia. If they need bully help, Okert or Black (or Broadway or Gearin) will likely get the call.

Who's gonna man-up come playoff time and take JA's place. Bully was the key to 3 rings and JA was instrumental in all three.

I seriously cannot wait to see Ray Black in action. I think he's going to be handled like Osich was in 2015, eased in but will quickly become a favorite of Boch's.
