Against all odds, the Rangers pulled out a win last night. Taylor dug himself an early hole and the Rangers needed an offensive outburst and some stellar defense to seal the win. But they're carrying that momentum into O-Town, where things don't usually go well for the boys. On the mound will be Otto (8:40), Perez (3:07) and Howard (3:07). None of that is a recipe for success, but Otto needs to be looked at as much as possible regardless. Tonight's game is a free broadcast on AppleTV+.

Right now, my faith in Hearn and Perez is equal.
I have a lot more faith that Taylor can improve and look decent to good than I do in Perez to do the same. Now, whether he will or not, is anyone's guess.

I am not sure that Otto is ready yet, but he was the guy who could actually pitch between him and Alexy. Whether he is ready or not, he is still probably the better choice than guys like Howard and Perez.

It seemed like it took every ounce of grit and determination to win that game as night. It was a great win, but winning has to become a lot easier than that. I guess we just have to be patient.

Taylor definitely has more potential, and I hope he improves. But he's gonna have to show me more than he has so far.

Reminds me of young Perez. Talent galore and less concentration.

He might not be cut out for a SP role. It's too early to make that judgement, he only has 15 starts under his belt. But has hasn't had anything close to a good start so far this year.

Prospects Live came out with their latest mock draft yesterday and they have us going with a guy that I have not seen in the top 10 in any of the other mocks. He is Jackson Holliday, the son of Matt Holliday. He is a HS Prep player from Stillwater and plays SS.

Definitely can never have too many of those

Each team's potential future closer

Rangers: Ricky Vanasco, RHP (No. 14)
Vanasco has one of the best arms in the Texas system but worked just 83 1/3 innings in his first five pro seasons after going in the 15th round of the 2017 Draft because of the pandemic shutdown and Tommy John surgery in September 2020. The Rangers are still trying to develop the Florida high school product as a starter, but a mid-90s fastball that touches 99 mph, a hammer curveball in the low-80s and inconsistent strikes could make him a high-leverage reliever.

MLB Pipeline can hide and watch while Vanasco becomes a very good starting pitcher.

The first name that came to my mind was Mitch Moreland in the 2010 postseason.

Every time one of our local writers invites questions for a mailbag type article, I ask them about Kyle Cody and how he is doing. Sometimes I ask when they do not invite questions. I have yet to have anyone answer me. Maybe Jamey will.
